Enhanced Emperor's Death

Well...my title isn't really accurate to my idea, but it seemed close enough  . I always thought it was a bit strange that after the Emperor's assassination life in the Imperial City went on as usual. I had an idea for a mod that would involve guards blockading the gates of the Imperial City until you become a Blade, and then you can gain special permission to enter the city. You could possibly sneak into the city through the sewers prior to that or if you did not want to complete the main quest. I just feel that this mod would add to the immersion experience, and make the Emperor's death seem more like a tragedy...a city-wide curfew and interrogations would be nice now that I think of it. Anyway, If anyone would be interested in making a mod like this, let me know. I'll try to help in any way possible, but I'm new to modding and don't think I would be able to make something like this yet.

Thanks.

And possibly public notices stapled to the city walls, propaganda newsletters being handed out by the Black Horse Courier, and public executions of suspected 'Mythic Dawn sympathizers.'

Heck, one could turn the IC into an Orwellian nightmare!

I can't do the scripting, but I'd be happy to write the proclamations.

Good idea but would have a lot of compatibility problems with other mods.

Can't build your mods around the idea of 'I cannot conflict.' Doesn't work well. Make your mods, and let others conflict if they wish.

Also, did it not seem strange that there was no state funeral for the emperor? or an Imperial crypt that could be robbed by an enterprising thief?

The funeral could be handled by a special edition of the Black Horse Courier giving details of the funeral and listing all of the dignataries who came. Of course, as an escaped prisoner, you were not invited. I think there are a couple of mods already that add an Imperial crypt.

That seems like a good idea, but has anybody gone back and checked where the Emperor was killed? Was his body still there?

Not just an escaped prisoner. A friend of Baurus. :]

I think that the oblivion crisis would have prevented any kind of real funeral, as gathering any remaining relatives or dignitaries to one place whilst the Mythic Dawn were still at large would not be a sensible option! I think a crypt is a nice idea though, doesn't even need to be packed full of wealth, as modern cyrodillic tradition doesn't seem to go for that in general. Plus I'd imagine that a well-loved Emperor's crypt would be open to the public, so putting treasure in is just asking for trouble!

As for the OP's idea: Sounds good generally. I wouldn't have any cities as totally blocked, but if the guards would only 'let' you in if you submit to questioning (talk so they find if your bounty > 0) and a search (check for stolen items), that'd make for a nice new challenge for the more nefarious of us. Maybe the occasional random stop'n'search in the streets as well.

I do see your logis here, but note that the only 'modern' (as much as such a word can apply to aplace which may have been cllecting the dead for generations) crypts we've seen have been those in the churches, which I dare say cater to solidly middle and upper-middle class families (the graveyards out back for the lower-middles and lowers) and the Trebentius family crypt, which is upper-class. We've not seen the modern Imperial burial sire for Emperor's, so it's really up for grabs whether it's grandiose or subdued.
