"Did I push it with my mods?" Novice/Advanced modder with a stout machine needs advice.

Hey guys,
My first post!

I've always been sharp with computers and troubleshooting; but I want some opinions from the other high mod folks running 2K textures, ENB, and ect .
I have a strong machine, but I get a lot of lag outside in certain places, as well as CTDs. The only correlation I can find is when it temp freezes for a few seconds textures in the LOD change(IE trees pop up rocks change ect) Sometimes FPS drops to like 7 frames for a little while, I can leave the area and its fine but it "works itself out". Mainly the game just pauses for a few seconds constantly while running through skyrim with large FPS variations and CTDs every hour.

I get 18- 50 FPS outside and 60 FPS locked inside *with Vsync*
Using the newest versions of all mods and programs, sort with LOOT, install with NMM *mostly*, and use WYREBASH, I'm running ultra, 1980 X 1020 , my ENB and *.INI settings are correct, stable Ugridstoload=7, I have used a texture compressor and compressed everything to 2048.

AMD 8120FX (8 core overclocked at 4.2 ghz *runs 40c under load*)
Gigabyte MB
8 gigs of ram
Gigabyte r9 290 (Runs at 70c max, never goes above 3600 vram usage max)

In my opinion, it's that massive 3.6GB of VRAM usage, I've never seen it that high before. Skyrim already sucks and becomes unstable with lots of large textures, and with ugrids at 7, it has a ton of memory to deal with. A lot of little lagspikes are just transferring data from your mass storage drive to the VRAM. I would personally recommend turning the uGrids back to the default 5 for a while and see how much of a difference it makes.

I agree with Dibthelegend. What you describe is typical Skyrim behaviour of overburdened hardware. Only think you could also try is to change the ENBoost settings, if they aren't optimal already.

If both methods don't work you will have to lighten the burden on your videocard. Skyrim on ultra with high res textures, even on static objects (btw, you are loading StaticMeshImprovementMod-DragonbornTernFix.esp before the main mod, rendering this .esp useless) AND realvision is a heavy burden for your videocard. I would start lightening realvision and/or thinks like AA, which is difficult to process and makes not a big difference in the looks.

Skyrim can and will Use every bit of your hardware, heck yesterday i had skyrim at a peak of 15.8 GB system commit (7.8 GB Physical RAM used) at rest, i have 3.3 Commit and 2.1 Physical.

 

I only have a pair of 3 GB GPu's and run them for hours loaded at 2.8 GB VRAM, @ 85 - 90 % load. SO it is possible to have Skyrim running full tilt. I have pics of my system using over 9 GB Physical RAM. since you only have 8 that could be a cause for a crash....lol

 

Post your ENBlocal and Series .ini files we can tweak them ...:)

 

Download SPM (Skyrim Performance Monitor) run that and post the graph , that way you can see the changes.

 

Try lowering your FPS to say 30..it gives the Game engine room to breath..it will still be smooth....cap that sucker.

Sorry it took me a min.
I think my GPU is going, so I am trying to troubleshoot that now. I just bought it and the guy I got it from claimed it was unused and that his customer decided to go with nvida instead of AMD....
