I have drove myself up the wall trying to figure this out, but how do I go about remapping the buttons on my Xbox 360 controller?

I am trying to accomplish this so I can block with a sword and spell using the dual parry mod. Everything I've tried to do has not worked. If I go into the MCM in-game and try to set the dual block to, say, the B button, it doesn't work. It just brings up my menu.

I am unable to free up a button in the controller menu in-game, because all it does is switch the buttons.

My ideal avenue to take is to put my 'back' button's function onto the keyboard (if that's possible) or on the d-pad somewhere, then my 'B' button's function to the 'back' button I just freed up, and finally make my 'B' button the button for blocking while dual wielding (spell/sword).

If that's not possible, then whatever you can figure out is fine. I just want that function on my controller. Lol.

I've really tried doing this by myself...

Check to see if you have a Skyrim\Data\Interface\Controls\PC\controlmap.txt file. If you do, that holds controller button bindings. I'm not totally familiar with how it all works, but maybe that is overriding your attempts.

Thanks for your response, man. Finally, someone is trying to help.

Sadly though, I've already thought of this. I deleted the file, but still have the same problems. Anytime I map dual parry to a button, the previous function maintains dominance.

Make a back up of 'controlmap.txt' before you make any changes.

You can actually set functions by holding down one button and then pressing another. e.g. I have hotkeys 3 & 4 bound to X + D-pad left / D-pad right.

Basically, it's the fourth column that you need to edit to change your buttons. If you want a combination, you need to have a '+' in between the two buttons.

e.g. 0x4000+0x0004 Is X + D-Pad left.

Scroll down to the bottom of this mod's description and it will tell you the button numbers...

If you delete a number from the column and leave it blank it will unbind it in game. I did this with my B button which frees it up to use joytokey shortcuts.
