Rosewind
I am having a problem with certain movies lag out or even freeze for no reason. They do this no matter what my graphics are set to. Currently i cant progress in the game because every time i travel With liliana in the party after she tells you why she left Orlais, I get ambushed and when the movie plays after u kill the leader it lags and then i get to a certain point it just freezes. it also happened when with the movie for freeing the elves and people from the werewolf curse. I have done everything to fix it but nothing works. Please help. It lags some times in game play(it's really rare) but I can fix that by setting it to window mode and making it full screen again, Escape seems to respond really quickly. Also if i save when the game play is lagging the save game will load laggy. Edit: Going to try rolling back the patch version to 1.02 and see if that might work since I've been seeing people having trouble with 1.03 Edit: Nope that did not work sigh. Means I cant travel with Liliana in my party for now.
DarkeWolf
have you installed any other mods when this began happening? Particularly armor, face changing, or scenery changing mods? I'm wondering if you may have installed a mod that has too high a resolution for your video card or cpu to be able to handle when under the duress that this game puts on a system. Its also possible that you have some corrupted files on your system. If nothing else works, you might try uninstalling/reinstalling the game. I also had an issue with my latest reinstall when the elven cutscene played. It would hang, and eventually crash.
Rosewind
Now that you mention it I did install that do not show helm mod the other day BUT cant remember if it I already had it installed when I first saw the problem, I shall try with out it see if that works. And no my system is fine and my graphic is fine, also I have already reinstalled game twice. I will let you know the results soon to see if getting rid that mod works. Edit: Nope that didn't work it helped a bit but I still freeze eventually (I am up to the lands meet bit so I cant progress till I sort out this problem.) Edit #2: I fixed the problem it had something to do with the Official Dragon Age add on's. I disabled most of them and now it works fine. Thank you for your help. DarkeWolf
well, I'm glad to hear that you got it sorted out. If I may ask, for future reference for anybody else that may have the problem... did you track down which dlc was causing it? Rosewind
well, I'm glad to hear that you got it sorted out. If I may ask, for future reference for anybody else that may have the problem... did you track down which dlc was causing it? It was one of the armour/weapon ones cause i still have the quest ones installed and it's fine so I don't know exactly which one it is.
DarkeWolf
hrm. sounds like perhaps the texture files were too high resolution for your system to handle?
1Monk
I have a similar problem. In random dialogs and cut-scenes the game will gradually slow down until it grinds down to a frame per minute (!),if I manage to fast-click through the dialog before the game slows down too much, the game will resume to normal FPS. It has nothing to do with high-rez textures, the same models and textures are present on-screen doing game-play with no problems.
DarkeWolf
ummmm... the higher the resolution of the mesh, and or texture, the more gpu processing is required. which means more vram being used. I can remember all too well back in the days of Morrowind Elder Scrolls when folks would have to lower the resolution of some of their mods, because some folks systems couldnt handle them. Also, this game switches back and forth from medium to high res textures, depending on your zoom level and during cutscenes.[edit] Zoom level was a bad choice of words. Distance from the item/character would be a better choice [/edit] More than likely tho, its the memory leak issue. This game uses up tremendous amounts of RAM, loading up new areas and savegames. And then doesnt release the RAM the way that it should. Which can cause the big decrease in game performance and cause crashing.
