WolfRaven
I've been at a point in Oblivion where I'm thinking "Screw my morals, i would like to blow this Popsicle stand with style." Sure, you can, you know, MURDER everyone in the game, but that wouldn't be much fun...plus, for all us moral people who enjoy seeing our fame at 200 and our infamy at 3 (if you've had a questionable past with a certain Skingrad sheep, for instance), this isn't the best thing to do. Besides, aside from what i saw with Malevolent, no one really cares if you're the champion of Cyrodill, unless you're a guard, in which case they will grovel if you so much as murder. So i thought to myself "What would happen to the story arc if a gigantic army arrived in ships from some unknown land, bearing a hate for the empire and lust for the riches it leaves unprotected in its post-oblivion crisis weakness, arrives in ships off the coast of Anvil, and prepares to invade the province. and all that is left standing in its way is the champion of cyrodil itself, along with some legionaries, partners, magics, etc. To think" Thought I "what would happen if someone were to program it so that they would go raging all across Cyrodil, sacking and burning the towns around them, until the burn Whitegold tower to the ground?" "That," i thought "would be awesome." So, I offer the same idea i gave if anyone saw my "CM Partners Barracks" idea: Either take this as a good idea and run with it, or shovel me a tutorial or five and i'll be on my way. Thankee Kindlee. Fonger
but can you murder everybody in the land without getting a bounty??? (besides the modding/console to un-essential some people) Now that requires some skill. Sure blowing the whole land to smithereens would be fun, but think about the terror as the population dwindles and the guards (they respawn) simply don't have a clue. WolfRaven
I had a similar thought:http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=194294 Aye, something like that, yet instead of Daedra, it'd just be an army of soldiers. I like the Refugee camps, though. neat idea.

As you said, yours is for after the main quest and is grounded more to reality. Imagine climbing to the top of the Anvil lighthouse and seeing an armada on the horizon. Epic. I hope both get made. It would sure add excitement to the game.

However, quest wise, this would be a lot of programming, not to mention the whole mesh and texture that would be involved in the foreign soldiers... man, this makes we want to learn programming. DariusMoranda
I did something similar to this idea, though,it was merely a test to see the people's reaction and how much would they like it,for my serious future mod,so it is nothing really big,no quest or anything, but a lot of fun, especially at higher levels. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30772 Check it out. I am going to bring a lot of large-scale battles in the two upcoming mods of mine,as people seems to be interested in that a lot,and I myself,as well. Great ideas, guys, and will be brought to life. Good hunting Moranda

Good hunting Moranda Keep in touch maybe with both of us? Also, i am totally looking into that mod. Thanks! Sure thing, bro,I am updating regularly on here about the mods progress. As for the large scale battles,I am testing it whenever I can and search for a solution when it comes to lagging. Battles of bigger proportions will definitely require some sacrifice from the player ,by lowering some graphic options and such. Some parts of the battles will be probably scripted to avoid frustration with the possible Al problems, especially with the archers who likes to run around when they are in combat. There was one more problem, but I found a simple cure for it,with numerous testings. It's when you face a large group of opponents, only a couple of them will atack you,but the rest will just stand there or even flee from the battle, until the first opponents are put to rest,THEN the rest will jump in as a substitute. It's the game engine I suppose. But anyways, the cure is simple as cake:bring 8 people all together including you,to fight on your side, and bam!All the opponents,no matter how many of them is there, will attack your group on sight and the battle will escalate to the maximum. Scripting will be a fun part of it,as I intend to being realism into every battle. It would be pretty ugly and without any sense if an army fo,for example,100 soldiers atacks all together, from every rank.Archers will be unprotected and scattered over the battlefield, losing their roll in the fighting, with not being able to shoot properly due to a crowd in front and facing opponents with claymores and heavy blunts will lead them to a quick death. That was one example. Archers should always be all the way back, placed on a high position,so they can shoot freely, without hitting their companions. They should be also protected by a long 'belt' of shielded swordsmen, with long swords, and shortswords on the left and right sides, for a quick stab, when the opponents are stopped at the front. The second 'belt' in front, would be both heavy and light units, equiped with two handed weapons, for a good, solid defence and a possible counterattack. And finaly, the first 'belt' from the front view, would be combined by heavy spearmen, for a long reach, heavy sworsdsmen skirmish units, and light blunt units, shielded with maces, for a strong and fast responce. The battle leader(king, prince or whatever) can be in front, defending posittion of his army.or in the back,in case of reformation and changing battle plans. In both ways,he/she should be guarder with elite swordsmen usually, blunt force as well, both two handed and one handed weapons equipped.Maybe a couple of assasins too, they can find their way in the crowd, and concentrate on key figures,as well. This would be some more or less logic defence formation. As for the attack...This formation can work, too.Heavu spearmen, full assault, kick them back a bit with a longe reach, stagger them, and take a couple of swordmen units to help with the block,in case of falling back.If they hold their position, moving upwards or suffering stagnation, now, light macemen, fast raid,no mercy, two large unites from the sides, and one heavy support with claymores and blunte force from the front, following with the battle leader and his private units,as support as well.If the support breakes through, elite soldiers starts a smack down from the inside, with heavy units from the front, and light support from the back, giving to the oppnents a closed 'tie',where they have no chance, and can be beaten to the ground to the last one of them.Archer protecting belt would drop an ocasional opponent who made to break through, while archers filling their opponents from a high position, rapidly and constantly. This is all fun,and I think it can be done, with some holes hee and there, but I think it can be. We will see, when the time comes. Moranda
WolfRaven
It sounds like a fantastic start... Maybe to decrease the lag, didn't you say in your battle mod (which i played. very nice) that you might want to lower the grass? But would there be a way to, say, have a lighter version of meshes, one that wouldn't take so long to load and could be employed en masse? it's probably been done. In addition, some storyline elements would be interesting as well, maybe even essential as you wouldn't want the invasion to start AS SOON as you loaded the mod. Something to certainly think about...
