CTD After Specific Time Elapsed

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a game-killing bug I'm having with Oblivion + SI. I'm about 90 hours into the game and started to experience a bug in SI during the Lady of Paranoia quest where, no matter what I did, the game would crash upon either saving/pressing tab/entering a door after having played for a specific amount of time (it was something like 90 hours and 36 minutes). I reverted to an earlier save and ran around for a while to see what would happen and it still crashed. I went back to Cyrodiil and the game lasted for about another five minutes but experienced the same problem.

Here's the mods I have running:

OOO

Streamline

Operation Optimization

All DLC minus Fighter's Stronghold

All unofficial patches

Keychain

Lost Spires

Full disclosure: I was using a no-DVD crack copied before installing SI so I wasn't able to properly patch SI. Thinking this was the problem, I reinstalled everything today and got everything properly patched but the problem continues. I checked using Wrye Bash for Abomb and bloat and got nothing meaningful from either. My load order is organized per Agiel's recommendations. I haven't had any systematic CTD problems before this and haven't changed any graphics or sound settings in a while. Weirder, I was able to get through about three hours of SI content before the problem started.

At this point my game is entirely broken. I'd be willing to go back to an earlier save but I don't know of a way to tell, if the problem started at a specific save, which one that was and I don't want to check by brute force. Has anyone ever heard of this problem? I wasn't able to find any information online about it and I would GREATLY appreciate anyone's help in diagnosing and curing my game.

Thanks!

by simply having SI installed without the current patch

its entirely probable that you have run afoul of the "form ID bug" the very bug the current patch was issued to correct.

If so, your save is either already dead or its salvageable - but considering that you have already tried it . . . its dead.

a previous save could work.

It's probably a rule that I should have figured out the problem right after posting... I'm almost sure it's some sort of conflict with either the SI or DLC unofficial patches. It can't be the Form ID bug because my vanilla Oblivion was patched up to most recent and, even without SI, that patch is supposed to fix the Form ID bug. Guess I can live without the extra bug fixes. Thanks though.

If you installed the Oblivion v1.2.0146 patch, then added SI. You will get an error when trying to patch SI to v1.2.0146. It will not patch! This is a known bug

The only way I know to cure it is to do a complete reinstall, and INSTEAD of the Oblivion v1.2.0146, use the SI patch. Using the instructions in my complete reinstall you should be able to salvage your saves and mods as long as there is nothing already wrong with them.

The reason is the patch modifies the actual game program. (Oblivion.exe) and the Oblivion patch makes changes that the SI patch doesn't undo. So you must reinstall to get rid of the Oblivion patch, then reinstall before applying the SI patch.
