Highwayman300
After playing skyrim for a while, i finally decided to play Oblivion, however, it appears that it is way more unstable than its successor. After certain amount of time, (Around 40-60 mins, sometimes it can be up to 5mins) the game suddenly freezes, while the music still plays, and it is required to be forcefully closed. Interestingly enough, i have very good performance, and i have yet to experience a hard crash when the game becomes resource intensive. However, for some reason it keeps freezing on menus (Pause menu, all options, wait menu but not inventory) and recently on loading/fast traveling. This happens with vanilla Oblivion (With all DLC), and in my attempts to fix it, i recently installed OBSE, and some performance mods to try and fix it, so far nothing has worked. I would appreciate any help, as this issue is rather stressful, and so far i am unable to fix it.
Operative85
Try adding it to the exclusions of DEP, or Data Execution Prevention. Also, go to Oblivion.exe's properties, and in the compability tab, choose "Disable desktop composition" Reply back once it works/not.

I experience a small improvement on performance, but besides that the issue still persists. I also noticed that the game usually crashes after fast traveling (although very rarely) and on big npc battles as well.
