Spl1nt3rC3ll
I've been playing Oblivion with the Oblivion.esm unchecked in the Data screen for some time now. What effect does this have on the game, exactly? I've noticed there's no Oblivion gates, but I assumed that's from Alternative Start by Ship. I like that there's no gates, because I'm playing as my 360 character before he was sent to prison and before the Oblivion crisis. However, I've noticed that the TesIVLODGen says "failed, such-and-such requires Oblivion.esm to be loaded before it." Do I need to check Oblivion.esm to run LODGen? worm82075
Nothing as far as the game is concerned because the Oblivion.exe loads Oblivion.esm by default. As for TesIVLODGen, yes you will need it to be checked for it to function properly.

On the subject of Oblivion gates, If I enter the Kvatch Gate, will that trigger the random gates in the wilderness? I've been thinking about Kvatch Rebuilt, but I don't want to do it if it means I have to deal with random gates.
