Help with specific mod please?

This is pretty much my first time downloading mods for any game, so any descriptions you give will have to be pretty basic. I have activated the invalidation thingy. I have downloaded and used several mods: mini hideout, existence 2.0, and cube experimental. They all work in the game. But I can't seem to get "Arefu Expanded" to work. I have tried to follow the installation directions, but it crashes my game as soon as i try to load a save. Something odd i noticed was that it is checkmarked in my fallout mod manager but I can't checkmark it in the data files thing. I can checkmark the .esp file but every time i checkmark the .esm file it unchecks it automatically. Could someone who is familiar with this mod please explain what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it?

Also, I can't seem to install animations. I am trying to install "fallout 3 re-animated." I think I followed the directions correctly but it is not even showing up on the mod manager or data files thing. Could someone walk me through that too?

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry that I cannot help you with the first question, but on the re-animation the file only contains meshes. Without an .esp you will see nothing in FOMM or in data files. It should work alright provided it's installed correctly.

To answer the animation question, all you need to do is extract the files to 'Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\'. No esp or esm is needed. If you have other mods that change a mesh, I suggest extracting 'characters' instead of the first folder named 'meshes'. Extracting 'meshes' might replace everything inside the already-made meshes folder.

Let me take a look at Arefu Expanded and see if it works for me, if not then I will try to rebuild the .esp.

(Made a new post so that OP gets an email if he's watching this thread)

Arefu Expanded is working for me. I'll ask questions and give answers. If you have more questions that isn't below, ask me and I will try to help.

Q) Do you have the latest patch for Fallout 3 installed?

A) If not, go to Bethesda Download Page and get the latest patch. Just run the .exe.

Q) Did you download both files listed as Required?

A) If not, go to Arefu Expanded and download 'Arefu Expanded v1_7a - Data Files' and 'Arefu Expanded v1_7d - ESP and ESM files'.

Q) Did you try remaking the package in FOMM?

A) If not, delete the package and try again.

.....1) Make a new folder named 'Arefu Expanded' and extract both of the .zip's from above into that one folder.

.....2) Open FOMM, go to Package manager and delete the existing Arefu Expanded package.

.....3) Click 'create from folder' and navigate to the Arefu Expanded folder and click 'OK'.

.....4) After it has finished, click on the newly made package and click Activate.

.....5) Close Package manager and make sure Arefu Expanded is checked.

.....6) Close FOMM and open Fallout 3.

.....7) Go to Data Files and check if Arefu Expanded is there and checked.

Hope I helped. I'll keep this thread watched so if you are having any problems I will know.

....1) Done

....2) How do you delete the Arefu Expanded package? When I click on package manager there is nothing there.

Thanks so far for your help.

Ah so you just extracted the files straight to the Data folder the first time? All you need to do is delete those files from the Data folder and then continue from Step 3.
