Neko_42
Remember the good old days during Morrowind when mixing armors looked good because you could have shoulders and gloves separate. Some one should make a mod like that for Oblivion. Or maybe a mod like this exist?
LHammonds
The difference is that Morrowind was created with those body slots as part of the game engine. Oblivion does not have those slots and modders cannot add those slots...this is hard-coded into the game engine...same with the amount of weapon types available (to add a new one, you must overwrite an existing one), same with magic FX, body types, etc. LHammonds PS - This topic belongs in the Oblivion Requests section << MOVING >>
Neko_42
This can't be edited? Like with OBSE or something?
LHammonds
It can be faked but with great detriment to the modder. If there were actually a pauldron slot, you could simply create a pauldron-only piece of armor. But if you want to achieve that effect without the pauldron slot, you have to make "combo" meshes which the complication factor becomes astronomical with each additional option you want to add. Example #1: You want a cuirass with and without a pauldron. Solution: 2 meshes. A cuirass with the pauldron and one without. You pick which of the two in your inventory that you want to wear. Example #2: You want a cuirass with and without a pauldron and you want the pauldron in 3 different colors. Solution: 4 meshes. A cuirass without a pauldron, a cuirass with color A pauldron, a cuirass with color B pauldron, a cuirass with color C pauldron. You pick which one of the 4 you want to wear in your inventory. Example #3: You want a cuirass with and without a pauldron in 3 colors as well as a an alternative gender. You also want to support HGEC and Roberts Male body as additional options. Solution: 16 meshes. You would still just have 4 items in your inventory to choose based on what you wanted to wear but now you are supporting both genders and one additional set of gender-based body mods. Now imagine adding 8 more color options and maybe one or two different style pauldron meshes. This level of complication is just at the base model. It doesn't even scratch the surface of all the entries you would be putting into the Construction Set if you wanted enchanted and non-enchanted versions as well as different stats in level lists! Trollkin
Slick mod, but now you've exchanged your rings for pauldrons. A neat solution, but not really ...ideal. Still, surprising that the idea didn't get more momentum back in '06.
