Manderson93
Whenever I try to play Oblivion, it opens up the main game. The startup is perfect, and the menu works perfectly, except the background music doesn't play. Credits and options work fine, and if i go into the saved game area, it shows it how it should, but if I try to open a saved game, click on continue, new game, or exit, the game freezes. I tried taking off all of the esp files, and that still didn't work. I tried Morrowind, and that worked perfectly. I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the game, but nothing seems to work. I went to canyourunit.com and it said that I can run it, but it freezes each time I try to play the game. This happened to me after a period of not playing the game. If anyone has any ideas on what is happening, I would enjoy hearing and trying them. I really want to try a esp I made (after it stopped working, not before). Also if i need to give more information for anyone to get an idea, I'll try to answer it.
Fonger
This happened to me after a period of not playing the game.find where your game saves are located usually somewhere around "my documents -- my games -- oblivion" and experimentally delete your oblivion.ini (save a copy of it somewhere just for safety) (the game will make a new one)
Manderson93
This happened to me after a period of not playing the game.experimentally delete your oblivion.iniNo, it didn't work. One time before I tried this, it said it did the thing where it makes the ini, so i think that it made a new one recently by itself.
MikeHibs
there might be a problem with your music, since the music doesn't play on the main menu.try renaming your music folder so the game doesn't find it and try to play the game again. i once had a similar problem, and this worked for me.the music wouldn't play, but at least i could play the game. bben46
Using the built in uninstaller, It does NOT uninstall everything. Your problem is usually caused by a left behind entry in the Windows Registry, an old mod that has a problem, a mod or patch that is the wrong language version or a corrupted save game. This uninstall/reinstall procedure takes care of those kind of problems. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexushttp://www.tesnexus....icle.php?id=
