Skyrim audio issues - Static/Crackling/Stuttering

Hello,

I'm currently facing issues with my audio in skyrim, namely an issue that causes the sounds in my game to periodically crackle and stutter.

This affects all the audio in the game.

Example:

"Do yo-(crackle)-u get to the Cloud Dis-(crackle)-trict very often? Oh, what am I say-(crackle)-ing, of course you don't."

-The audio is not laggy, it just crackles very often.

-The issue stops once I open the menu or bring up the console.

-The game itself does not lag or stutter.

-I know that this issue is specific to my more recent saves, when I loaded an older save, this issue is not present.

-I know there are no issues with my audio drivers, as the audio seems to work fine on a new save.

-I've tried cleaning the save with Skyrim Script Cleaner.

-I've tried setting the sound format to 24 bit, 44100 Hz

-I've tried removing all spell effects by using "resurrect 1"

-I've tried the command "sexchange" on the player.

 

Any one have ideas on how to fix this issue? It's a long shot because I have many mods installed.

Edit: The issue has been fixed, it was the Fire and Ice overhaul mod that was causing the issue, thank you to everyone who helped.

I'm also having trouble with this same issue. I was able to reduce it by uninstalling RealTek and using window's audio, as well as updating my BIOS. Its down to a more tolerable level but its still pretty annoying, I'm able to reset it by alt tabing in and out. I have no idea whats causing it as my game runs very smooth and my script latency is where it should be.

 

This might solve your issue, but hopefully someone else will reply with a solution.

What sound card do both of you have?

Is you computer pre-built or custom built?

I have noticed that not all realtek sound drivers are created equal.

I have an ASUS motherboard in my PC with a realtek sound card but it will not work correctly with drivers from the realtek site.

However it does work correctly with the modified sound drivers from the ASUS site from the motherboard's download area.

Have you tried to change the Hertz output?

 

This sounds an aweful lot like a problem a lot of us ran into when Skyrim was first released. I remember we had to make adjustments to the playback sound device in the control panel.

 

But the thing is I think you should idk, check and make sure your on the latest patch. Log into Steam and Verify Cache.

Other than that Im stumped.

Yep, tried every option there was, nothing worked. I read somewhere that the problem went away when someone reinstalled RealTek, so I guess I'll try that next lol. Thanks though

I have to guess with out knowing the exact model of laptop that you have an ATI video card.

AFAIK the ATI High Definition Audio Device is part of the ATI video card and is used when connection to a TV with an HDMI calbe.

With your earlier post about the realtek control panel being installed I am going to say the normal audio output (built in speakers, and headphone jack) are in fact on a realtek sound card, and need a different driver then the ATI High Definition Audio Device.

After some troubleshooting, I found out that it's a mod that is causing the issue.

The FireandIceOverhaul mod is the cause of the crackling. No idea why it happens, but the issue stops once I disabled the esp.

Hopefully, this helps someone and thank you everyone who tried to help.
