Missing Apprentice

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered a thousand times, but...

 

I told my mage to ''Go back to his studies" and he never returned, the game still thinks I'm dragging around an apprentice with me and won't let me pick up another one.

 

No idea where he is, assuming he's not dead, probably just stuck somewhere.

 

Any console or mod fixes I could apply?

As the vanilla Oblivion does not have apprentices, I imagine this is from a mod. Most companion mods have some kind of summon companion feature, a spell or ring usually. What mod put the companion in the game?

When you become Arch-Mage, you can use any Arcane University mage apprentice as your follower. Anyway, OP needs to tell us if that apprentice is from vanilla game or mod to make things clear.

Sorry. It's the vanilla apprentice that you can recruit once you become archmage. Similar to the DB apprentices.

 

I rested like 12 days in game and he still hasn't "returned".

I have been playing Oblivion for a long time and never knew that. This game keeps teaching me new things. Thanks for that info.
