Meshes Folder Hideen+other problems

I recently installed a no CD patch for my oblivion game from game copy world so i didn't have to take the CD into college but it caused my game to completely crash when i ran it, and when I removed all mods it gets to the main menu but fails to load any games saying the master file wont work and does not start any new games. I went back to a restore point before the patch and reinstalled the game twice but the same problems occurred which means that somewhere something related to oblivion is not getting deleted. I later got the game working by reinstalling the latest patch but so far i don't trust it and also the console does not work. Also throughout this process the game never forgot all the modes that had been loaded on the game despite no modes in the data directory and 2 clean installs including app data, registry's and folders in my documents including save files.

If anyone answers can answer why this happened and how oblivion still knew of past mods I'll be glad to hear it.

Onto my next problem which may or may not be linked..

My Meshes folder can only be seen or accessed when exporting in 3dsmax and has a padlock next to it, when I go into it's properties to change the user it runs on despite being logged onto admin, it's says the file cannot be found, same result when i create a shortcut to it.

Because of this I can't mod because I cannot access this file outside of exporting 3dsmax. Please help :(

sounds like UAC is working against you

uninstall a third time

and re-install someplace else.

The game uninstall does not completely uninstall the game as you learned.

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

BTW, the antipiracy features do not like certain no CD cracks and if it sees them on your computer, Oblivion may not install unless they are removed.

Aye I think it's the UAC, I've found where the extra files are going. there being put into the virtualstore folder and so I think part of the updated patch files were in there and so a clean install would not work unless I updated it to the latest patch.

I also think that exporting and saving files to the program files put them into virtualstore instead because of the UAC.

Thanks for your help, I'll reinstall it somewhere else :)
