I already stated the money thing. And I HIGHLY doubt they just "ran out of money". (Especially since they continued to work on it after the release i.e. More patches and DLC)

I think they were just being cheap and lazy. And they already had voice actresses in on Old World Blues. Veronica Belmont and Jocelyn Blue for example. VB (Being the prime choice) They could've pulled it off. Just cheap and lazy. Cuz it takes less effort for an extra line of dialogue saying why he doesn't sound like a girl than to actually have a girl re-voice it.

you really dont realize how expensive it is for them to pay an actor to read one line of dialog... seriously, its stupid how much they pay out for it.

And if the male voice is still funny to people then they don't have to download the mod.

by all means go ahead and make the mod. i'm not against it, just stating a fact followed by my opinion.

I'm really dang sure they could've been pulled it off. As they still had money to continue working on patches and DLCs as I already said.

Generally all funds involved in game development tend to be allocated ahead of time rather than on as needed basis. Making a game is really expensive and choices have to be made in order to keep within budget and on schedule for release.

I'm telling ya it's bullcrap. They could've done it.

no they couldn't. yes they had the money, but they didnt have any of it allocated to hiring more actresses or bringing actresses back to do it. thats how the business works, you get so much money placed in your budget and you cannot go over.

The point is our mod are doing what they didn't want to.

it is possible it was fully intended from the beginning as a joke. old world blues was full of jokes like it. but have fun makin it.

Maybe you're right.

I probably should just explain why I'm so critical of Obsidian. My animosity towards OWB is actually from the base game itself. The whole game feels unfinished. The constant bugs and crashes speak for themselves.I understand they had only ten months but that's why they kept making patches after release to fix it but never truly did. New Vegas is literally broken. I played New Vegas and never got to do much because it kept crashing.

My problem is OWB is the same thing. OWB was unplayable for me because it kept lagging extremely and then freezing and then crashing. It was broken.

So of course, I feel they didn't put the effort, time, and money into it they could have ,if I can't play it because it's so bugged and broken. If I'm paying for it I want to be able to play it. That's why I'm rather aggressive towards Obsidian. New Vegas OWB was one of the most broken DLCs of them all and I wasted my money because the game was unplayable. I'm not the only one. Which is why I actually sold my New Vegas copy in the first place. I plan on re-buying it soon and using the mods to fix these crashes and other things.

As for the voice, perhaps it was on purpose or a joke. The best thing about OWB (Or rather the only thing since I couldn't do anything else) was the humorous writing. I will give them credit for that.

But you'll forgive me for not having much faith in Obsidian game making ability. Since, ya know, I couldn't actually play the game.

I blame the short dev cycle for that problem. If they'd had another year to develop NV (as originally planned), the game would be hundreds of times better than it was at launch. Unfortunately, to make way for the release of Skyrim, the release date was pushed back by a year halfway through development, forcing Obsidian to rush what little they had to completion.

Do remember that FO3 was somewhat crash prone and buggy as well and that had over four years of development. Granted Obsidian did shave off their development time by using and tweaking an existing engine but the 18th month enforced development time was certainly a major factor.
