Morrowind Expansion questions

Hey guys, I just got my new PC so I will finally be able to fully enjoy Morrowind, I've had it since it was actually first released a long time ago, my first pc was a slow Intel Celeron 800mhz and needless to say I could barely play, so I didnt, then I upgraded to an athlon 1ghz and that was still too slow to enjoy the game so I tried playing, but I got annoyed at the fps issues and quit a good ways into the game, and now I have finally got a pc that can run these games at top settings, and I'm starting to play morrowind again, I was wondering if those of you who have played the expansions for Morrowind know if they are worth buying.

 

I've got a few games on my to-buy list at the moment, Doom 3, Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy, Half-Life 2, Halo..

 

Anyways you get the general idea, so how good are these expansions, mabye you guys could tell me some of the new features in the games.

 

Morrowind was nice but it lacked alot of features and abilities that I would have liked.

 

Please post the new stuff you can do, how nice the new equipment is, so on and so fourth.

 

(My only real complaint about morrowind was that once I got my Daedric Dai-Katana nothing in the game was a challenge)

Lots Lotsa Lots Lotsa new stuff in Tribunal/Bloodmoon. New armor, factions, quests, armor, weapons... definetly a good buy. And dont worry about everything being to easy... things will get a lot harder

 

(if you find gaenor, run!!!)

 

 

 

It would be harder to explain it all, so I would suggest buying them and seeing how wonderful they are for yourself

Well I know they are adding tons of new equipment and quests, but I mean what new stuff can you do - Are there buyable vehicles now, mabye a silt strider of your own, or a boat you can control, can you now buy a house in the game without ahving to use a patch, stuff along those lines.

 

By the way, I love the avatar :)

Spike does rule!!!!!... Ed is better though, and If you've seen Hellsing, alucard, but anyway, back on topic....

 

In bloodmoon you can get the 'Factors Estate', Tribunal you can get the best longsword in the game, Bloodmoon offers you the chance to become a werewolf, Tribunal doesn't. I really dont want to give to much away, but those I think are good little tidbits of info.

Have they even begun to touch on the NPC community realism?

 

Anyone who has ever played that great game Gothic knows what I'm talking about, the NPC's were very lifelike in the manner that during night time they went into their houses and slept (giving you chances to rob/kill silently/sneak into hostile areas), during the daytime they would walk to work (And yes they actually walked, didnt spawn, you could follow them around), and the NPC's were very intelligent in that they could judge your skills and abilities by looking at the equipment you used, and they would treat you more respectively, I remember at one point when I became a full fledged Templar (Best swordsman in the game)

And donned my nice armor, I went to another city and you could hear people in the background whispering to each other "Is that a templar?!" "What is he doing here?! I hope he doesnt want trouble!"

 

 

Anyways its stuff like that, that makes a game memorable, and I was wondering if morrowind has even begun to touch on it?

sadly, no. :( it could really use that! (i've played gothic all the way thru myself, and the NPCs are definately a lot better than morrowind)

 

hopefully it'll be something they add in with TES IV

I think part of the thing (for me at least) that makes morrowind worth playing is that I really put a lot of effort to keeping it interesting and not to try and do too much or too little at the same time. Being involved with more than one faction at the same time helps alleviate the repetitive feel that some of the groups have (like item gathering or dungeon romping).

 

Getting the expansions (at least Bloodmoon) always gives me the sense that there is unfinished business somewhere, which I like; again, it gives me the sense that there is always something going on.

 

Granted Morrowind does have its flaws and drawbacks, and sometimes you just get fed up with and walk away for a couple of days. But in the end there will likely always be something for you to do.

 

As for the challenge factor, well being lvl 50 it's hard to say the game is much of a challenge, but wieling a DDK will deffinitely do it. Throughout the game I haven't touched anything better than Orcish armor and an Ebony Broadsword, so some of the higher level stuff takes a little more planning to kill.

 

Also think that mage classes have more versatility and you can come up with rather unique ways of playing the game and utilizing magics, straight forward warriors are fun...for a while until you realize that it's the same thing all the time.

Dont get me wrong Thanateros, I think its safe to say I've done probably 40% of the stuff you can do, I'm nowhere near done with the first one, just wondering if the expansions add stuff to enhance my gameplay (What really ticked me off was the fact that there were what, 3 katanas in the whole game? Iron, Steel, and Daedric)
