Regarding the fake dll:

Open FOMM, In the menu bar go to Tools >> Install Tweaker

and disable the Fake dll.

Also open GfWL via the start menu (not ingame) and try to log in.

FOMM's fake .dll made no difference, as it wasn't enabled in the first place. GFWL works fine outside of Fallout (the client and on Dawn of War II).

Huh, maybe - and this is a shot into the very dark - try to uncheck all your mos and only run the Fallout.esm. Start a new game, try to log into live, save, quit the game.

now go to:

<Start Menu> \ Documents \ My Games \ Fallout3 \ Saves \

delete Ini files on the way and copy your old save games into:

<Start Manu> \ Documents \ My Games \ Fallout3 \ Saves \ "Your Live Name" \

Start the game via the default launcher and have a look what's happened

FOSE really should not be the problem.

I have FOSE installed and I'm playing with. And as soon as I load FO3 via the default Launcher - which means not with FOSE - I can log into GfWL anytime I want. So it must be another problem.

Have you once executed the Games for Windows Live Disabler or sth?

I probably have. I recall wanting it gone before I used FOSE. However, I've reinstalled Fallout 3 (and made 100% certain FOSE wasn't lurking in the directory), and updated the GFWL client. It's the XLive.dll that's causing the issue, right?

Possibly. Try to run the tool again and click on "Enable GfWL". Maybe it helps.
