TechnOkami
So, I noticed while playing the Old World Blues DLC that there were these skeletons in space suits shooting lasers at me, and it made me think: how hard would it be to make a cosmetic "race" option where you play through the game looking like one of the burned skeletons you find throughout the Wasteland? It doesn't need to have like a full blown undead racial stats where you can never get poisoned or something like that, just a purely cosmetic change where you basically get to look like a skeleton. Danny159
Well you could, but considering all NPC's will just treat you like a normal human character it would be rather weird... XD

Yep, you sure can, and many of the "undead" characteristics wouldn't be that hard to implement either. You just rig a skeleton as a armor, or as the base nif of a new race. Buuuuutttt the problem is that if you put on a outfit/armor your bony appendages will change to hands and the outfit doesn't look skeletal, the models are made as per standard body types. So to keep the illusion going you wouldn't be able to wear much in the way of clothes/armor. You could make new models, but that's a lot of work for all the outfits and armor. I put together a armor for the skeleton in spacesuit if you want to wear that. Here's what it looks like; http://static-3.nexusmods.com/15/mods/130/images/50510-4-1370446397.jpg Although I see from the pic that I need to edit the pipboy glove with an alternate model to remove that flesh hand. Anyway you can grab the mod here You can also play as a few other types of critters, like a hologram; http://static-1.nexusmods.com/15/mods/130/images/50510-1-1370446394.jpg Although that one is very beta, because the shader effect is so temperamental (get lost loading, has to be reinitiated via a quest script etc). TechnOkami
How fun. But curses, my mod ideas have been foiled again! Alas and alack.
devinpatterson
How fun. But curses, my mod ideas have been foiled again! Alas and alack. But, think about it this way, what if there was a back story here? What if there was an alternate RPG start based on the suit. The suit's provide autonomous mobility and skill functions (we see mostly combat skills, but it could potentially be anything the user used to do) carrying around a dead corpse. But here is a plot (admittedly far fetched) that might work for a player character. Say one (out of all those scientists) in a suit didn't die, but was instead ghoulified. You still have the original trauma that almost killed him/her and most of the flesh is even far more decayed (virtually gone) than most ghouls (skull and forearms are bare bone). But due to the very high rads during and after ghoulification the scientists (or perhaps other professions) was able to survive. The suit now compensates for the wasted limbs that are little more than bleached bones. The ghoulified brain still exists and functions within the bare skull, as does the ghoulified torso. It's a stretch, but maybe not too much of a stretch for fallout. And I don't think you can come up with a more lore friendly excuse for a skeleton. If it seems too unlikely, flesh could be added (ghoulified or marked man) on the head to preserve brain function (limb function is almost irrelevant, as the suit compensates and provides almost all the mobility). Just a thought......Anyway I think I'll throw a NPC like that in my OWB expanded mod.
