Converting OMOD to Wrye Bash

FinalHazard

Recommended Posts

Hello :)

I would like to use this mod: NPC Knockout Overhaul !

Since i only use Wrye Bash and the mod itself is in NMM/FOMOD, i have a problem.

I know, it's possible to repack this mod so it will work with Wrye Bash and i want to know how.

So i would appreciate if someone would be so kind and give me some help, advise or guidance.

Thanks

Hi,

That will be an easy one....Click to download manually, you will get a 7 zip file...Wrye uses 7 zip without any problems.

Ok actually downloaded that file ..its a mess. will not work in current state....it needs to be reorganized to work ...I will edit this as i configure it ..Bear with me...

Step one....right click the mod....UNpack to project, keep default name.

Step 2 ....now at the top of Wrye installer page you will see a project with the name ( a project is nothing more then Wrye Extracted the mod to a folder) right click "Open"

Step ...a bunch... ok What i normally did for all my mods was make the selectable packages this mod kinda needs that . In the main folder for the mod (wrye opened to that folder) create a new folder called..."00 core" .

First we can look at how the mod is now...these are the folders and what in them....

archive..... only has the BSA file. Goes in core folder.

config.......has separate folders for each different INI edit.

docs.......has a readme

fomod....dosent matter we will delete this

loose...has a scripts folder......we will drop the entire folder into core.

plugin.....has the actual plugin...ends up loose in the core folder.

==============================

Open the archive folder move the "BSA" file to the 00 core folder. (delete empty Archive folder.)

Drag "docs folder" drop in 00 core.

open loose folder ...drag "Scripts folder", drop in 00 core. (delete empty loose folder)

Open plugin folder....drop the "esp" in 00 core. (delete empty plugin folder)

==============================

what you should have at this point is.....

00 core<<<<<in this folder is a Loose file "NPC Knockout Overhaul.bsa" and "NPC Knockout Overhaul.esp"

docs<<<<<in this folder is a readme

scripts<<<this folder had another folder and loose scripts.

you could pick ONE INI and drop it in the 00 core folder and this mod would work, but i always like choices so let work on the config folder....

Config has 6 folders rename each folder and then drop them into the main folder of the mod (not in the 00 core) and delete empty config folder. just add 01 to each folder name then move.

final outcome....

00core

When you look at the mod in Wrye you should have sub menu on right and you can pick n chose what you want to install....

A PIC of what it should look like in Wrye....

No not a wizard....just been Using Wrye for something like 10 years...lol

If i just did the re pack , ( would have taken WAY less time, LMAO) you could not do the next one...so i just show you how, and now you can do that hundreds of times....but i will say......I switched to MO. Trust me it took ALOT to get me to Switch, I had my 250+ mods working perfect in Wrye, But doing STEP they kept recommending Mod Organizer, so i gave it a second try, and have to say ..I like it , has a few benefits over Wrye, and since you still have to use Wrye (bashed Patch) the things i miss in Wrye i still get to use.

To show how much they, Wrye & MO work alike...Uninstalled my 250+ mods in Wrye, Installed them Thru MO...I am still using the Same SAVE. The Game never had a problem My Character was level 10 - 12 At time of Switch.. Is Now Level 16 No Hick-ups.

And ...You are Welcome....

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"

I just repacked another mod with succes! REPACK ALL THE MODS :D. To be true there are not that many but its good to know, just in case.

I will not change from Wrye to another Mod Manager, atleast not now.

I have my setup running and i am happy, i dont want to break it.

Wyre never disappointed me :).

Its kinda sad that i use Wyre since oblivion and dont really know much about it.

  • 4 years later...

This is a great thread and the method described above helped me tremendously. I love Mod Organizer (now MO2) and I use it in every game if I can, but working with Oblivion I ran into issues using MO2, so I now have to revert back to Wrye.

Why ask why? just try Wrye...

I should add, the only thing this post didn't really cover, is if you have a mod in an OMOD (or FOMOD) format that doesn't offer a non OMOD version to download.

What I have done, using OBMM or TESMM is open the OMOD in that, and extract to folder - it gives you the full unzipped (normal) version which you can then zip and install.

Although, if the OMOD is an installer with options, this can be a bit more difficult because you can't completely install a mod that has options because it won't work. The only real solution I have found, is:

a) install the OMOD through OBMM to a clean vanilla data folder choosing the options you want and you can then go through and copy the files to an external folder, then zip and install elsewhere.

b) completely use a different mod manager that is compatible with OMODs like OBMM (and Wrye Bash I think).
