Authors supply links to required and recommended mods

The most popular authors invariably provide active links to required and recommended mods for which I am very grateful. However, many "new" authors fail to do so and sometimes even fail to provide a searchable title to required mods.

In the instructions to mod authors, could Nexus strongly recommend that authors provide active links as a common courtesy to their fellow Nexus members. This should not be difficult since the author must have that information at hand. You could suggest to authors that doing so will likely increase member interest and endorsements.

I suggest that a list of things to do when posting mods should include this recommendation.

Here at the Nexus we try to MINIMIZE any telling of authors what they "should do" , or "have to do", to freely share their the works with the Community.

The list is really short:

1. No malware.

2. Related to the game where posted.

3. A title that gives some indication of the purpose of the mod.

4. An actual mod, game video, original music track, etc. (No adverts!)

5. No incomplete (e.g. WIP, non-functioning, known to be game-breaking) mods.

That's it.

Authors are generally very good about identifying any required mods. After all, authors want their mods to work for the players.

As for "recommended" mods, that's such a subjective area that any author who has a strong opinion is going to express it without prodding from the Nexus. Those who don't, won't.

If you have a specific mod in mind where you think the author didn't do a good job of providing necessary information, please let that author know through the mod's "official comments" section, or via a PM. Again, authors want players to use their mods and most appreciate that sort of feedback when it's delivered politely.
