thanateros
Alright here's where you can sign up for the RP I'm DMing called Legacy of the Daedra. The storyline is still in the works but overall I have some ideas that I think will be alot of fun for those who like to be extremely challenged. If you don't have a lot of RP experience I wouldn't suggest signing up. I don't play fair and really like to mess with the PC's a lot but if you're up to the challenge and can come up with creative and intruiging ways to solve hard problems without killing of every NPC that gets angry at you this might be worth checking out. So far the only information I'll give you is that it starts in Suran. Rumors are brewing in the slave market that slave drivers headed to Tel Vos were attacked by Daedra Cultists, their slaves captured and the drivers dismembered and strewn across the trail. Again (to reiterate), I'm not gonna make it easy, so post well and good luck. Please only interesting characters....and come up with a first and last name. Use the standard RP character model. Brief histories are optional, but for those who submit them I really make an intense effort to work them into the story at some point so characters have a chance to show off their skills. This RP is limited to 6 party members, all of who should be at least willing to cooperate with others in the adventure. Anyone can sign up, I pick who gets it. Sorry if this sounds too picky, but as a DM you can only handle so much and I've seen other threads die rather fast because it was open to anyone. To secure a spot all you have to do is make a rather intriguing character with a strong history (as well as a reason why they'd be in Suran). If more than six have really strong characters then I'll consider opening up the player count but no more than 10 altogether. For those who don't know the standard PC form: Character Name:Race: (please include racial abilities)Sex:Age:Height:Weight:Birthsign:Class:Prefered Weapon:Armor:Misc Items/Equip:Gold: 250Skills: (just the skills you have [5 primary, 5 secondary])Spells: (for mages you each get one spell of your choice in all schools of magic, post what you want and i'll determine if it needs tweaking for game balance purposes)Brief History: (no longer than 1 page single spaced in Word) For damage I'm not going to be using health, and won't keep track of magicka, rather you'll get a good idea of how hurt or how spent you feel from taking damage or casting a spell most likely followed by a PM about specifics. I will be issuing experience in this thread, something I don't see too often in others. When you try and attempt something I will be rolling die IRL to determine if you succeed, this is based off of a % roll so choose your race and skills wisely as they do play a major role in how well you can succeed. You will be starting at lvl 1, I'll hand out skill bonuses periodically that you can add towards leveling. This will probably be done through PM so other player characters don't know what lvl you are and so the thread doesn't get filled with OOC info. On that note...no OOC posts, period. If you have something to say do it through PM. Let's keep this one pure and see how it goes. First Session will be posted on Monday Sept 15th. Good luck to those of you interested and I hope there is enough so we can actaully play. Happy posting and looking forward to seeing what you guys/gals can do. (if you have any questions about how to calculate the primary and secondary skills of you character than simply consult your use manual, it's easy enough from there)
Peregrine
I'd have to be insane to miss this one... I'm in! Character Name: Alenee B'ElenRace: Habassan (info below)Sex: FemaleAge: Appears about 20Height: 6'4"Weight: 160 lbsBirthsign: The ShadowClass: Habassan EmissaryPrefered Weapon: Shadow BowspearArmor: B'Elen ceremonial armor: curiass/bracers Misc Items/Equip: common shirt/skirt/cloak/bootsGold: 250Skills: Primary: marksman, spear, light armor, illusion, sneakSecondary: athletics, acrobatics, security, armorer, blockSpells: Brief History: to be added later HabassanStrength: 25Agility: 50Endurance: 50Intelligence: 40Willower: 30Speed: 35Personality: 20Luck: 20 Marksman +15Spear +15Light Armor +10Block +5Armorer +5 Ability:Blessing of Yabeth: 1/day fortify spear/bow +10, 15 pt sanctuary for 60 seconds History:Though much of Habassa's origins are lost to time, a general picture of events can be formed from the remaining records. Far in the past, not too long after the battle of red mountain, a faction of Nords split off from the others. After years of not quite open war, one side's scouts discovered an island to the east. In excange for a truce, they moved their entire civilization to this new land. Once there, they quickly established control, and founded the city of Habassa. Over a period of about 200 years, they rose to become the center of civilization in the region. Though some of their Nord influences have faded with time, one thing has remained almost unchanged: the willingness to fight. Though isolationist in nature, Habassa will defend its interests with unmatched fury if provoked. Shadow BowspearAn ancient art thought to be lost for thousands of years, the forging of shadow weapons was maintained by a small faction in the far west of the empire. When Alenee B'Elen was exiled, she brought this knowledge with her, and gave it to the Habassans. Shadow weapons begin as normal weapons, in the case of Alenee's bowspear, a Habassan ceremonial pike. Through a complicated process known to very few, the weapon is imbued with an extension of its user's soul and mind. The result is a weapon that is far more effective than before. When the user wills it, the weapon takes on a ghostly transparent appearance and becomes both extremely light and nearly impossible to damage. Cutting edges sharpen to almost unheard of precision, bows launch their arrows with greater force, and blunt weapons strike like the hammer of an angry god. Of couse all this does not come without price... it takes significant effort by the user to maintain the weapon in its improved state. Even the greatest masters find that after battle they must rest to recover their strength. Additionally, the lightened weight of the weapon shifts the emphasis from the user's strenth to agility. No longer can brute strength and a heavy blade combine with devastating results, the user must strike with precision, skill and speed. The rarest and most difficult to make versions of shadow weapons are those that can shift form. While in its shadow form, the user can will the weapon to change to a more appropirate shape for the situation. However, merely using this ability at all requires great amounts of practice, and even then is limited to one or two additional forms. A master of his weapon can eventually learn to shift so quickly that he can change weapon in mid swing, often with fatal results for his opponent. Alenee B'Elen carries a weapon of her own creation: a dual form bow/pike.One final note: because of the personal link between a shadow weapon and its user, only the person for whom it is initially forged can use its full abilities. Anyone else is limited to non-imbued weapon form, severly limiting thier sale value. The services of a crafter, however, often have a price many times that of the most expensive daedric weapons. thanateros
Well this RP by all estimates will be long, and I'm posting in the EST but that really doesn't play too much of a factor I think, generally I'm on the forum 3-5 times a day so replying to an action will come rather swiftly. I'm in school right now, and let's just say that sometimes my priorites get skewed (for example right now, when I have a 6 page paper due in 2 days worth 1/4th of my final grade, but nah, it ain't due till friday and there's always tomorrow). You are welcome to join if you want, I know people have other things to do outside of live on the forum so if things take a little while to happen then so be it, but generally when I post it will be in response to an action by a PC that would require me to roll a die on a skill check. If you think you could stick with it I'd really appreciate you coming aboard since there seems to be a slight hesitantcy from the greater RPing population. Also for those of you who might be considering playing but don't wanna commit I do allow late arrivals into the storyline so once it gets started and it looks interesting then I'll let some people in....no more than 3 additions though. Over the long sword is a package slung, with the following equipment:3 torches, coil of rope, some rations, winterblanket, whetstone, and 1 set of common-clothing, rolled tightly so it doesnt take too much space. On her belt are various pouches, one wich contains 2 journeymans picks, and 2 probes of the same quality. Brief History: "Are you SURE you want to do this ?" Joel, Redguard fighter, asked."Sure, why not ?" a fresh and happy voice answered him."Well, these sticks can really hurt. Of course, they are not real swords, but still...""Yeah, so they tell me""Tell you ? who ?""My opponents""Hmmm.... Well, I choose this one" and with that, Joel took a longsword-lenth of solid wood out of the rack at the wall. "And this with it" while he picked up a round shield. "You done yet ?""Uh-hu... Im done." Two shortsword-lenth sticks were whirling around, one in each hand. "lets go !"The two figures stepped up on the training floor. One fairly broad, musculature male, a Redguard. With confident swigs he checked his sword, the he looked at his opponent. The other figure was, at first glance, not a fighter. However, when you looked better, you could see that her lithe frame was not just that, there was no ounce of fat on her body. Under her skin there was the clear defintion of muscles, hardend in numerous training sessions. She took a defensive stance, and smiled a predatory smile. "Come get some" <grin> They exchanged blows, either one trying to find an opening in the defense of the other. While the Redguard made huge swings, she ducked, weaved, blocked, and backed up a little, all of the same time it seemed. Then the reposte came, and her opponent was forced to give a little ground. This continued for 10, 20 minutes. neither had any idea of time, but the training-hall was filled with the sound of their shuffling feet, and the sound of wood on wood when they blocked each other. Slowly, they both got tired, and the smell of sweat was slowly emerging from their bodies. *BOOOOM* the door burst open "NISPEL !!!! GET OVER HERE" "Huh?"was the reply, and when momentarely distracted, Joel saw his opening. *klang* with one swipe, he knocked the two short sticks of wood out of her hands."Told you" he said, holding his wooden sword at her chin, "you'd loose". With that, he turned to face the newcomer, wich had called Nispel."No way"was her reply, and in a flourish she reched behind her back, and threw one of the small sticks she had hidden there at his head. "What the..." he said, while he stumbled back from the hit on his head. Next moment, he felt his legs and feet loosing contact with the floor, and landed square on his back "OUMPH", totally knocking the breath out of his chest. Whenhe looked up, he saw Nispel sitting on his chest, poking another small stick in his larnyx. "I win !!" laughing at the look at his face, she stood up. "Nice fight, Joel. If you ever want a rematch..." She left the floor and faced the newcomer, who called her name. "Wassup Guv ?" she asked."Sigh... didnt you learn anything here ? Talking like that, what would your parents say ? They pay us enough here, can you at least TRY to speak like you learned anything here ?""Sure, Guv" she replied with a felie smile "So, wassup ?""You have your first assignment, here take this, read and leave" he replied, handing her a paper, "and try to hold up our good name, please""Sure..... Guv...." she replied absentminedly, already reading the paper with interest. 20 Minutes later she left for Suran. thanateros
ur oddyguy , methinks 85% chameleon at first level is a little overkill, unless you and you alone want to get attacked by a DB assassin everynight. I would take 35% for 30 seconds for first level. Shadow, you can have that Glass Armor, but also know that since you do have some pretty nice items some rather ambitious NPC's might take it upon themselves to rid you of it. All I'm saying the better stuff you give yourself the more hair you might loose. And on the implied note, after reading another RP thread, if Shadow and Peregrine go OT and start SPAMing in the thread I'll donkey punch you both. Resolve your tensions or ingore each other, or play it out through the RP, but I'm not going to be responsible for the idiomatic Arena. In any case looks like we have a good turnout thus far, so we're on for Monday
