TheDivergent
I am looking at game engines and existing game SDK's to either create a full game or total conversion. I can't decide. I need the easiest engine or modding sdk that requires no programming - this is assuming I wont need programming because the game engine or sdk already provides the code built in for anything I'd want to do. This will be a sci-fi shooter based on the book of a popular movie. The book has much more content than the film so I think it will be a good project and something no one has ever done before. Oblivion and Skyrim's creation kits may be out of the loop because this idea takes place in the future with fancy modern buildings. I don't know if they can do that. Perhaps the creation kit for Fallout 3 ? Unity needs programming, so thats out. This leaves the Cry Engine or the Unreal Engine but they might require programming too (I don't know) or on the modding side there is Valve's Source Engine which I know nothing about, but I read that Source is hard to learn. I don't know if thats true or not. The game will take place both indoors and outdoors, so an engine or SDK that supports an open world like the Bethesda games is what i'm looking for. I as a beginner also need the easiest engine or sdk I can get. Can you guys please help by giving me feedback? Thanks Edited August 9, 2014 by TheDivergent
BlackRampage
Perhaps the creation kit for Fallout 3 ? Wouldn't recommend it. The Gamebryo engine isn't exactly known for being the most stable of game engines. It's also getting really old. Cryengine 2 or 3 seem like the most logical choices for a futuristic first person shooter. Its sandbox editors are also really easy to work with, even if you're a beginner. They also support huge open worlds + indoor spaces without the need for cell transitions. AI is also way better.
