I’m going to finally take the plunge and doe some of the DLCs

I want to start with Point Lookout and maybe Zeta next, can I then go back and do the others or do they have to be done in sequence i.e. Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, Mothership Zeta ?

You can do them in any order that you wish. However, I believe that they were written by Bethesda with increasing character levels in mind. This would mean that Mothership Zeta would have been written with the idea that players had already defeated Fallout 3 and the other four DLC's in order and were expecting a new and greater challenge. This has been my experience with them at any rate. I believe that the nasties are leveled so that if you go into a scenario with low characters they might not be as tough, but they would still have inherent powers that cannot be "dumbed down". This is just my opinion mind you, but I do think that it's pretty close to actual fact.

OK thank you, maybe I will give it a go. I will make sure I back everything up just in case it all goes pair shaped.

I see people with a single DLC loaded all the time especially Point Lookout or the Pitt, so they haven’t done the other DLC’s. I just wanted to make sure the quests weren’t interlinked or broken by playing them in the wrong order. If it’s levelled and there is nothing stopping me going backwards to load the previous DLC’s great, if it’s too hard for a level 20 then I will have to start back at Anchorage.

Thank you

Please don't take what I wrote the wrong way. You, of course, can do the DLC's in any order that you wish. It's just that some of them can be pretty tough. I found Anchorage to be fairly easy while I found Lookout and Zeta much, much harder. What I printed before is not a hard fact it was meant just to be a guideline. The important thing here is just to enjoy your game the way that you want and let the Devil take the hindmost.

Thank you both.

I finished the main quest a long time ago.

I have also finished every side quest and a great deal of good additional quest mods.

I want to start with point Lookout as it seems the most different of all the DLC’s apart from Alpha.

And I hope Lookout can stoke up my enthusiasm again to tackle the other DLC’s.

They are sort of level based to some degree. If you try to take the boat to Point Lookout too early on, the guy will tell you you're too inexperience and that the horrors of Point Lookout will make the super mutants look like a walk in the park (or something alone those lines). I don't know if you can go anyways once he says that...i never tried.

Progress Update:

As I have the Game of the Year addition I had to install all 5 DLC’s. I have activated only Point Lookout so far.

The guy on the boat let me buy a ticket without incident I went there and have finished the first Quest at the Mansion and received the second.

I also got the defenders Perk.

I had to go back to the mainland to re-equip from my vast stocks stashed around the wasteland as it was a tough fight.

Then only thing I had to do to get it looking good is add the Malos body PointLockoutFix-7610.7z and Breezes Body fix.

I re-boarded the boat and am back at Point Lookout ready to start the second quest.

Good on you, Old Scout. After knocking over Super Mutants by kicking them in the knees I thought that I would have little trouble with Point Lookout. Then those in-breeders beat me up, stole my lunch money and sent me home crying. And that was the first two that I ran into. It sounds like you fared somewhat better than I did. Well, Sydney or the Bush!! Back to them.
