ImWarpedd
I have absolutely no mods installed and I tried uninstalling then reinstalling again to play the vanilla game. I tried modding my game yesterday but I got frustrated with it and deleted EVERYTHING in the folder, including all mod files so I could do a fresh reinstall for the game. Please help, I've never played Oblivion and I want to play the vanilla experience.

ImWarpedd
-How did you install your game? Where?-Did you uninstall using the uninstaller or did you just delete the folders?-Have you played Skyrim or any other game without problems? I installed Oblivion via Steam. It's the deluxe edition, and when I uninstalled it I deleted all the files the first time then I used the uninstaller via steam (delete local content), and on my second try I deleted the local content THEN deleted the folder. Right now, I'm playing through Skyrim, Fallout 3 and NV, both Borderlands, and Alan Wake without any issues. They were all installed quickly and worked upon start up and even their modded versions work flawlessly. This is the only game I've ever struggled to play on Steam. Operative85
Hmm. That's quite a problem you've got there. All the games you mentioned are far newer than Oblivion so it's no surprise you won't encounter any problems with them. Try putting Oblivion.exe to the DEP exception list. (http://antivirus.about.com/od/securitytips/ht/excludefromdep.htm) Also, find and delete your old Oblivion.ini (usually found in My Documents/My Games/Oblivion) Hope this helps!
