Nihilisaurus Posted May 1, 2010 Share Posted May 1, 2010 So here is my idea for "Topsville", a town built on the flight deck of Rivet City ('Topside' of the carrier). The idea is that Topsville is a suburb of Rivet City (which one day I hope to make bigger and better, that hangar deck should be massive...). Topsville is small, and has some crossover with rivet City (Same police force, probably some resident crossover, a linked business or two). The plan for the place is it's more... Alive than the lower decks, one of the Buildings is labeled the 'Scavenger's Union' and will have resting scavengers inside, and a few outside selling their loot (If people wanted it'd be trivial to add custom scavengers selling mod weapons. Hell I could set them up with vendor containers and post a list so modders/users could do it themselves). Near the broken Bow is Flak n' Shrapnel's Workshop, intended to explain some of their arms supplies by having workers apparently building Assault Rifles, Hunting rifles, 10mm Pistols and other basic weapons. There is also a Pub/Inn/Bar on the deck, a place not dissimilar to Moriaty's and the ever-present general store, selling the usual fare of ammo, meds, armour and misc. goods. There's room on the rear deck for a farm, using the trench side pieces to make an enclosed area of composting rubbish from the city, which plants can be grown in. Alongside that the town could possibly do A spot of fishing (by way of several doors/ladders to the potomac and the aid of a few small boats...). That'd about cover it for things going on, making it lively enough but not ridiculously so. The place isn't going to be a complex haven with a questline and perks like the wonderful little "Return to Shady Sands", but if anyone can help later I do get the general feeling Topsville's residents would be a tad unhappy about being stuck on the deck exposed to bad weather and stray missiles from the DC shoreline, as well as having to go through rivet city to get out into the wasteland... http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/4396/topsville.png Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you'd like to do either of those please drop me a PM. (was going to say that half an hour ago but had a PC reboot 0.o think it was heat related so I cleaned the all-pervasive dust out of everything and replaced the thermal paste on the CPU). Probably just a basic shack with a bed, a few storage options and a sink though; the people who live in Topsville aren't exactly wealthy... Missiles)# Big guns# Ammo# Melee/Unarmed-And a few others:# Chems# Misc.-Food and more arms will be sold in the shop Next to the Scavenger's Union, now called "Cod n' Guns".-If I can get it done there'll be 3 or 4 Security guards in the outpost and 2 more patrolling the market.-Flak n' Shrapnel's Workshop will not sell any weapons, but if I ever do a quest they'll buy pre-war weapon schematics (R91 rifle schematics etc, which will be added to suitable locations). I'd sugest having a noodle bar/counter, you could use the one from megaton for the mesh. And string the place up with fairy lights. For cloathing/weapons/armour for sale I'd make it more low tech/weaker stuff, with the better stuff for sale in the normal market. how about some Brahmin pens Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Nihilisaurus Posted May 2, 2010 Author Share Posted May 2, 2010 I thought about Brahmin, but IIRC they don't like metal deckplates :P I could grab a few troughs and fill them with tree/grass meshes though, so it looks like they're being fed. In fact there's an extra 1/3 length of the carrier perfectly useable on the other side of those buckled plates on the far left of my plan. I could put them in there... I'd also have to put in some sort of growing stuff, maybe my idea about using trench edge pieces to make it look like a (for want of better words) terraced garden, like rice paddies but shallower and on top of a carrier XD Give me 1/2 an hour and I'll see what i can whip up. Damned GECK deleted that interior so I've re-done it with better, gloomier lighting. I plan on selling nothing better than miniguns and combat armour on deck, Shrapnel's is easier to get to (in fact you almost have to pass through the market to get up topside) and still has a more varied selection of weapons. TBH if the Rivet City market gets neglected that's its own fault for not having enough stuff :P Which brings me on to my next point, maybe in the summer I'll fix rivet city to not be tiny and suck...
