Custom Armor/Clothing not showing up

Since I couldn't find any tutorials on creating/editing armor I decided to just try it myself. I know how to do it for Oblivion anyway so that shouldn't be a problem, I thought. Unfortunately it's not really working. I can add the items to G.E.C.K and when adding the biped model, it shows up the item. But when putting it onto a character the armor and body disappear, which results in floating hands and heads. So after trying for a half a day, I give up.

Can anyone maybe link to a tutorial on this or explain in clear steps how to edit existing armors. These doesn't have to be in much detail since I know how to work with G.E.C.K(experience with TESC) and Blender. Any help will be much appreciated.

Are you using custom meshes and textures or ones that already exist in game?

What I am trying to do is editing the meshes from already in-game items and use these in a new item. I tried this by copying the .NIF file and load it up in blender with skeleton.nif. After that I export the model using the exporter with Fallout3 default settings.

Then when I open this edited .nif I can see the mesh correctly, also the preview in G.E.C.K when selecting the biped model shows it correctly. However when I put it onto a character their body disappear.

I have a similer problem only mine crashed the game as soon as i load a save, although im not 100% sure which settings to use when exporting in blender. I do normaly check the mesh in Nifskope anyway which looks ok and it showed up in the GECK although again without the actual body only the armor itself?

I'm probably doing something wrong with the skeleton. When I open original fallout armor into NifSkope the armor, body and bip nodes are visible. When I open my edited version of it, it is missing the body, skin data and all the Bip nodes. At least I know what I'm probably doing wrong now.
