Hmmm. We've had this discussion before. Though, I don't particularly remember which section it was in, and it was months ago. ;)

Ha! someone said that, in this Sci-Fi universe, they build enough bombs to kill us all.....

......but the horrifying truth is, they HAVE enough bombs to kill us all, TWICE, and I'm sure that this is a short measurement...

CorrodedSoul, over.

Yeah yeah. But in the Fallout universe they actually got used, and there were even more than we had at the peak of our cold war.

After all this time, the World would be green. I'll assume that there is so little Radiation left that umans can survive, otherwise it would make little sense;

The World would be green then. The Citizens of the Fallout World should be growing food, of course, Raiders would try to attack the Farms, but the sheer number of Raiders in the Capital Wasteland is ridiculous. Most Humans will try to make a living with the lowest risk of someone shooting you in the Head. Living in a community that grows its own food is better in that regard then being a Raider. The massive Number of Bad Guys are there because the game would be rather boring for People who'd play good guys.

Pure Water can not be irradiated. There could be some dirt in the Water and that Dirt could be laced with radioactive Substances or be irradiated.

Here's how you purifier your water: Boil it until it evaporates and catch the Steam. Let it condense and you'll have pure clean water. Unless the surface you'll have the steam condense on is dirty.

I don't know what the Fuss with the Water Purifier is about...

Nice and easy to do on a small scale, sure. Anyways this is Fallout, it's based on 1950s 'Science!' not real science, for all they know radiation was little green pirates climbing on the atoms... But boiling/condensing hideously costly on any large scale, I figure the purifier is an attempt to do it a less expensive way.

As for green-ness yeah... FO1 and 2 had forests and farming. FO3 is a little *too* bleak, there should be raider clans, not just raiders EVERYWHERE. In fact screw a total overhaul, a mod with farms and less 'everywhere' raiders would be a much better use of the time...

Plenty was known about nuclear physics and the effects of ionizing radiation in the 1950s as a result of the pioneering work by Rutherford and the Curies (Marie's notebooks are still kept in lead-lined boxes), and don't forget that the Manhatten Project got underway in 1939.

As for Fallout3, it's science fiction (and a game), and extremely elastic science is an honourable tradition in that field :thumbsup:

These discussions are admittedly good fun though.

Actually, for the time period the people of the Falloutverse probably know more about nuclear physics than we did. All Things Atomic is to the Falloutverse as the semiconductor is to ours.
