lordjonny
ok im insulted one of the reasons for the new rateing is because of the ability to mod the graphics >:( ""There is no nudity in Oblivion without a third party modification. In the PC version of the game only - this doesn't apply to the Xbox 360 version - some modders have used a third party tool to hack into and modify an art archive file to make it possible to create a mesh for a partially nude (topless) female that they add into the game. Bethesda didn't create a game with nudity and does not intend that nudity appear in Oblivion. There is no nude female character in a section of the game that can be "unlocked." Bethesda can not control tampering with Oblivion by third parties. Bethesda is taking steps to ensure that modders can not continue to hack into Oblivion's art archives to create partially nude figures." bethesda " www.gamespot.com they cant do that >:(
Peregrine
Err, who can't do what? The ESRB can't change the rating? Of course they can, it's only the spinelessness of game developers that makes that rating actually mean more than my ratings. Bethesda can't "take steps" to block nudity mods? Of course they can, at least legally. It would probably be a huge insult to the modding community and drive away the few talented people who still care about the game, but they could do it. Myydraal
Why the hell did they leave a nude art file on there DVD anyways its just plane stuiped on there part. Didn;t they learn anything from GTAs debatical and such. If its not on the offical DVD the ESRB does NOTHIN, but because its on the DVD it can be extracted, and yes by a third party program, but the 1s and 0s are there.....my god game devs need to learn to check what they put on there Fin CDs..... Anyways end rant. As proof that the ESRB does ntohin, Sims 2 has nude mods.

Why should game developers have even the slightest concern for the moron hordes whose single purpose in life is to get offended at anything that doesn't fit their incredibly sheltered view of the world? What they should be doing is saying "**** you ESRB, we're not bothering with your rating system" and publishing the game unrated. And if it includes nudity, then people can just get over it. I'm getting really sick of the way people act like they have a divine right to be sheltered from anything that could possibly offend them, and having anyone actually take them seriously. But nope, can't have anyone standing up to the outraged morons, we have to have Bethesda on their knees begging for forgiveness and promising to do everything they can to remove the offending pixels. Myydraal
Rofl i have ntohin against nudity and really rating and poo aren;t that useful, since it really comes down to parents. BUT what u say is rather....not likly form a busness stand point, for one cause stores will not sell games not rated by ESRB...which is economic sucided and do u really thingk all the game devs are gonna risk the money that puts food in front of there kids just to "stick it to the man" for something as rather harmless as some ratings? i think not....anyways, in a perfect world yadyada, but business is busness and money speaks louder then anything atleast in our world unfortunetly and its danm hard to change that. lordjonny
ok you all missed my point its not the nudity its the fact they changed the rateing because of user content that has nothing to do with the developers they should not have to change there rateing and lose sells because many retailers dont carry M games
Myydraal
Accually, it was on the CD, so it was developer contant, that what my first post was refering to. Thus ESRB has every rigth to change the rating. Just cause it an;t in the game doesn;t mean it an;t on the disc :/ and the GTA debalical proves the ESRB WILL change the rating if there is some random data on the officale release CD. What modders did was extract that data and make it accessible. Some redid the nude files but thats not what the change is about. sigh anyways. Oh and to yet again prove my point that only DEVELOPER contant will change the rating, the sims 2 has nude mods.
Marxist ßastard
Two topics. One links to tho relevant story, and the other just says "I'm mad as Hell about this." It's interesting to see which one thrives in this post-80000 world.
Bolgo The Madd
Why? Why should game developers have even the slightest concern for the moron hordes whose single purpose in life is to get offended at anything that doesn't fit their incredibly sheltered view of the world? Because they are called "casual gamers"... and thats all the publishers care about.
