How would I explain that? Um.. I wouldn't, why? Am I supposed to? I never saw anything happen at churches, wait you don't where the pastor say's 'arise you canwalk, throught he power of the lord amen!" and "jimmy here couln't see his whole life but today the lords' going to shed his mercy on him, praise the lord"

in spiritualist churches people stand at the front of a group of people and they get messages from the dead to tell their relatives and everytime i have seen people know what they mean. they call out people's name and can say an event from the past. if 'spirits' didnt exist how would you explain that?

In simple terms, a combination of show and a desire to believe from the audience. Can you show proof that there's any more to it than someone pretending to communicate with "spirits"? Have these events been scientifically analyzed and confirmed?

I think you've got a point here. Sometimes (perhaps even most of the time) it is just fakery cunningly done, but I have seen the occasional thing that is a bit too precise to be explained by this, such as some of these 'mediums' or 'spiritualists' coming out with full names and/or fairly exact descriptions of the people they are claiming to be in contact with.

if thats true and it is all a con, how do they manage to tell things such as family problems and i have known they have told them what will happen such as a soon event like a member of the family or a friend falling ill. i must say i do believe in it and dont so im rather uncertain. if it is true then it really would be the answer to the question: 'is our life planed out'

Just to rattle the unbelievers, we have a family ghost which warns of someones passing...

 

I have seen it on three seperate occasions and each time someone in the family has died. Witnesses include two friends, most family members and the dogs. (One time the dogs actually tried to bite it....)

 

The 'ghost' or whatever it is as no discernable form, more like green/grey smoke. It appears out of the floor and floats up through the ceiling.

 

Before running around and claiming mass hysteria or marsh gas, each event occured in different houses, one in a completely different province.

 

I don't claim that this is definitive proof for all. All I am saying is that it is proof enough for me.....

ha, i get almost too many strange things happening in my house, i remember one time after having a nightmare, i went to the kitchen to get a drink, and then i started to hear loud footsteps coming from the hallway, i looked down it, the noise stopped, i went back, got my drink, drank it, and the noise started again, then since this was 6 months ago, i wasnt that scared, i decided to run down the hallway to see if i hit something, i didnt, and when i stopped one of the paintings fell off the hook, landing on my foot, i ended up breaking my foot and since that day, i still hear the noises every night at 2:28am and 43seconds, the weird part was, that same day it first happened, we found the garage door in 2 peices, and the skeleton of our old cat, who died a few months earlier, i still think someone did it, but there was not a single bit of evidence.

Ah! that's scary. Um just let me say... AH! That is kind of like the stuff that "happems" at my house. a couple used to live there, somone broke into the house raped and murded the wife, they caught the guy and put him on death row, but the husband was so depressed he killed himself. So needless to say where always getting the jeebies. I don't know if I did too many drugs back then or if it was just my mind, but I have no real proof to explain the corner of my eye dead person next to me in the night, and even once in the day. I heard eratic pounding on the walls somtimes in the lower part of the house and somtimes the second story, it's seemed the noise was coming from the outside, I suppose it could have been birds, but thats just as scary, killer birds! I also had crazy nightmares there, that I only get there (enviroment caused no doubt) Just recently on leave i dremt I was in my bathroom and the door knob was turning and the window seal was shaking like sombody trying to get in, the toilet even flushed on it's own (it wasn't funny at the moment) then I look into the mirror, it was my face but not my face at all, it seamed like another person looking at me, then my face fell apart into peices, as I watched in the mirror it the door and window busted open and everything went dark-end of dream. I know this isn't the dream thread, but It was a ghostly dream. And the dream was similar to the things I heard when awake, the scrathing on windows and pounding sounds. When your in my house at night, you constanly feel like a evil being is going to jump out and tear you apart. My brother and sister both accounted for these things, my sister woke up and was awake as she swore her room was on fire and spiders where everywhere, it took hours for here to calm down she totaly lost it. She also said she saw a old man sitting on our couch in the living room, not very crazy but unsetteling. I welcome such terrors whether awake or asleep, I guess I'm kind of sick for that but I actaully enjoy the atmosphere it creates, very resident evilish. Also my last hope for finding anything spiritual in this world. Whenever someone talks of a haunted place I want to know where it is and go there, though I don't really belive much that it is ghost I just wish it where.
