Bolgo The Madd
What is mytheral? What is it made of?who makes it?how much of it should be in Tamriel? I always thought Mytheral was another word for 'Elven'.But since mytheral and Elven armor both exist in the game... I must be wrong. Also why is there so much dwarven stuff everywhere?aren't they extinct? What is the deal with dwarven armor and weapons. I'm trying to make a relaible spreadsheat to balance off of.But I need to know the Lore of Mytheral and the Dwarves. Just tell me stuff about the Elder Scrolls universe,no D&D factoids please :) thanksglut glut Bolgo The Mad
Loud Abnoxious Sigh
Do you mean mithril? (I think thats the correct way to spell it, I may be wrong) If so, I have no clue who makes it, but it's made from mithril. Surprise? Elven and mithril are two different types of armor/weapons. As far as drarves being extinct... ::shrugs::
silverstar
Mithril is a magically enchanted form of Silver. Why it doesn't have the same ghost-damaging properties of silver, I still can't figure out. If anything, it should do double damage.
Aventhorn
Mithril was also used in various other rpg games and in lord of the rings lore. If its similar to lord of the rings it is a "almost" indestructable metal that is light as a feather but hard as dragon scales made by ancient dwarves and is now rare mainly coming from the mines of moria. The elves loved mithril due to its beauty. But if its made by dwarves in elder scrolls im uncertain i have yet to sit down in my shack one day and read through the books with a nice bottle of wine from one of tamriels best winyards. Illyria
The term "Mithril" comes from LOTR, where it was the super lightweight yet durable chainmail made by the dwarves (named for the rare metal that the dwarves mined). I don't know who makes it in the ES universe, but it ain't dwarven. The dwarven armor in Morrowind was basically mismatched pieces taken off of dwemer steam centurions. It was never meant to be worn by men and mer, hence the unwieldiness. In Oblivion, the dwarven armor is made from dwemer materials, but is shaped by modern smiths. So that's why it looks so nice. http://til.gamingsource.net/mwbooks/ruinsofkemelze.shtml
Beav
mithril = truesilver = metal that looks like silver but is as hard as steel and lighter....think titaniumas a note the older games also had adamantine in them order of quality was iron -1steel/silver 0/0elven +1dwarven/orcish +2mithirl +3adamantine (doesnt exist as of morrowind) +4glass (didn't exist until morrowind) - unrefined ebony +4?ebony +5daedric (didnt exist until daggerfall) - ebony embued with daedric spirit +6 there were also i believe runed versions of iron steel silver mithril and adamantine...(making them slightly better, like as a good as the next catagory) anything better quality than silver was supposed to have the "anti-ghost" ability as did silver, and H2H also remember they have taken out a number of skillsmedium armor (chainmails - spellswords and scorcerers used this that i can remember off the top)unarmored (monks were based on this)im sure there were others but i cant remember atm... Russki Bear
It existed in Tribunal. And I thought glass was glass, and ebony was volcanic glass from within (in Morrowinds case) Red Mountain.
SoulBlazer_87
Mithril does not come from silver. It has nothing to do with it. It simply looks like the purest silver. That's why it can't hurt ghosts for example. It is supposed to be indestructible yet very light. Mind you swarves in LOTR never said they made it. They simply extracted it (they were thought to make it simply because they were the only ones good enough at moning to get it).It is also supposed to be very easy to forge once you heat it enough. It has appeared in many fantasy settings: D&D, LOTR I think it even appeared in WOD.
dpmn
I THINK the dwemer came from morrowind, there was a big battle between the dwemer [dwarves] and ?lord nerevar? [someone good ie. it says the dwemer were evil] the dwemer became extinct [apart from one living in tel fyr] and a lot of the dwarven stuff survived in ruins etc. mythril is a brand-spanking new thing to come to the elder scrolls though...
Bolgo The Madd
I THINK the dwemer came from morrowind, there was a big battle between the dwemer [dwarves] and ?lord nerevar? From looking at the stats and spreadsheets it looks like Mythral is just the light armor answer to Dwarven Heavy armor, at least that's how the progression works. So without changing any stats I'm making them more expensive ($$$) and rare... collectors items from an extinct race. Though Orcs seem to have more Dwarven stuff then other people, and Elves seem to have more Mythril.... I'll let you write the screenplay for that one. Still grinding at it.But I've got the randomization down...A heavey armor test of 100 items in my new leveled lists yields 1 Daedric, 3 Ebony, 5 Orcish, 1 Dwarven, 31 Steel, 59 Iron. Its a ton of work - turns out the original logic of the LL2 lists was designed to produce differently. But a lot of people want it this way - and the loot mods I've seen are quick fixes.Mine will be the real thing... for those people who want the game econemy and balance to be more random.Talk Talk Talk - Blah Blah Blah - Let me get back to it! glut glutBolgo The Madd
