chaospearl
Hi everyone. I feel like I'm running into problems every other day working on my mods... but the people here have never failed to be incredibly helpful. Here's the latest quandry. I spent hours last night creating little inventory icons for all the new clothing I've made, but I must have screwed up somewhere because my icons only show up part of the time. If I look at the clothing in my normal inventory screen, the icons are there in all their itty bitty glory. But when I put the clothing into a container and look at the container's inventory screen, no icons. It's a huge issue for me because I use Storage Sacks to control my inventory and so I'm almost always looking at the clothing from within a sack, where the icons aren't showing up. What did I do wrong? I use DarNified UI, the normal un-darkened version, and I put the icons into Oblivion \ Data \ Textures \ Menus \ Icons folder. I noticed that there are three other folders for different resolutions; Menus50, Menus75 and Menus80, and I suspect that may have something to do with it, but the CS wouldn't recognize icons when I put them in any other folder than the one I mentioned. If I tried to select an icon from another folder, it would say "Invalid Directory" or something like that (may have been Invalid Path or Invalid Folder). Raestloz
First thing that springs to mind: Did you assign icons, biped models, and world models for female only? In a non-female container (including chests, sacks, and whatnot) the game uses male data, which means if you didn't assign an icon for male, it won't appear. That's why people tend to assign models and icons as for male, it is more general and "just works" besides, common sense will make sure people won't equip female armors when playing as a male character
chaospearl
Aha! That's exactly what I did, yes. As a native English speaker I didn't realize containers have gender (silly grin). Thank you!
LHammonds
And just to cover the basics, make sure you are using DXT3 compression with no mipmaps. Related tutorials: How to Create Custom Menu Icons using Paint Shop Pro...using GIMP...Using Photoshop I recommend reading all 3 even if you only use one of those tools so you can see different methods which can be applied in any tool.
