it doesnt really matter which type you use in the end, most ppl say that medium sucks, but ive dabbled in it, and it went well for me, unarmoured is great once its up thier in skill level, but personally im a light armuor man, i like to make characters that i think reflect what i would do/wear if i was in the morrowind world.

that said, who cares what armour you use if it keeps you alive?

personally i have a meelee centered adventurer char, but i use light armor, and ive never had a problem staying alive, especially since i stole glass armor early in the game. but basically i wear whatever has the most bennefits, right now im wearing the saviors hide and the hat of the bearclaw guy that you get off a dremora quest, ive heard that heavy has better values, but ive never noticed, is this because im way more skilled in light? thats whwat i figure, but considering i can kill anything ive encounterd in like one or two hits(except vivic, and possibly almalexia, i havent gotten to her yet) its not really an issue.

The only problem with Glass armor is its low durability, which means that it degrades very quickly thus losing its rating. This requires either that you have a good armorer skill or frequent access to a smith, which can get expensive. Daedric and the magic heavy armor (Bearclaw Helm, Lord's Mail or Dragonbane, Fists of Randogoth and some Boots of something or other) have the best rating (266 (Daedric) and 333 at Heavy Armor = 100) and are very durable. Get a Daedric Tower shield and enchant it with Constant Effect Strength 0-89 (keep equipping it until you get at least an 80 STR boost). You'll have no problem carrying all that stuff around.

They are all good aside from Medium.

There are no balance issues except for medium.

Medium definately needs to have its defense boosted, its weight dropped between light and heavy, and they need to fix the god ****ed shoulderpads for chain armor to be medium, not heavy.

Really if you think about it they are all balanced logically.

Least protective is Unarmored, some people say if you have no armor, you should have no defense, which is wrong unless your opponent is using a weapon.. If your opponent has a weapon of any sort aside from something that does crushing or bludgeon damage, as you can move your body to help absorb blows to reduce damage.

Second least of course is Light, which (in real life) is made up of leather/hardened leather and other types of extra thick clothing sorts, meant to be useful against anything but a weapon.

Third (SHOULD) be Medium, but sadly, light is better, anyways medium consists of leather armor with chain over it, sometimes studded leather, sometimes just chain, mostly leather and chain.

Fourth is Heavy, it consists of 1 layer of Leather, 1 layer of Chain, and then a layer of solid metal..

So it all works out as it should

My characters have all been Fighters (except a Khajiit which I don't like to talk about), with Heavy Armour as a Major Skill; so I would opt for heavy, personally.

Also, there just seems to be more heavy Armour out there! I'd say that Light is the most abundant and diverse (glass, chitin, nordic, netch, Cuirass of the Saviour's Hide..), but I dislike it, for reasons already stated above by others. :) But heavy seems to be pretty easily accessible as well, except Ebony.

I dunno. I just like it. :D

Ooh by the way, has there ever been a sighting of a Daedric Cuirass?? If it's even available it must be incredible.
