tgpardu
I've loaded multiple mods, probably about twenty. When I went to play the next time, Oblivion wouldn't start, it just kept crashing. i turned half the mods off, and now it runs. I guess over time, I'll be able to figure out which one is the killer. I did notice when downloading the mods, however, that several of them share files of the same name. When asked whether I want to replace the old file, I always just said to "rename". Was that the right decision?

To your second question, if you are talking about an archive, that is okay. If you are talking about a plugin, no. I am surprised that two archives had the same name if they are different mods, however. Posting Your Load Order
tgpardu
The first problem is probably due to a missing master. Do you have a load order that we can look at. Posting Your Load Order I've listed all the mods I have loaded that appear in the data files. When I loaded all of them I wanted to play, Oblivion wouldn't even load. Currently, I have only the X's turned on, and it boots up fine. I know I have some multiple lovel mods here, like deadly reflex and crowded roads. I only had one of each of those loaded. If you guys have any idea where my crash problem might be, I'm totally open to all comments. I can make my computer work the way it was designed to, but I have never been a "hacker" :ninja: I would really appreciate the help. bben46
Re: I did notice when downloading the mods, however, that several of them share files of the same name. When asked whether I want to replace the old file, I always just said to "rename". Was that the right decision? Exactly the wrong answer. What it is asking is permission to install the textures and meshes to the same subfolder where all of the other textures and meshes are installed. It creates a new sub-sub folder in that folder using the name of the mod to put the 'same name' files. It doesn't actually overwrite anything. It actually appends the new info where it needs to go. When given that choice always answer yes. Or you could loose some of the textures or meshes. Renaming can work, but then makes it difficult when trying to find those files later. Loading a bunch of mods all at once looks like a way to save time. But as you seem to have found it doesn't really work that way. Load one at a time and test before loading another. That way you will catch problems and know what mod is responsible so you can fix it before loading another.
Tomlong54210
Fixing up your load order would help with somethings. However, it sounds like you need to reinstall your mods first. Installing mods that overlap is certainly something that you should pay attention to as well. Most file overlaps are not serious, but there are general installation order guidelines you can follow to avoid most serious issues.
