Raestloz
Did you turn it off in the .ini or in-game? Turning that dang feature off inside the .ini won't do you much good, I learnt that the hard way, literally. Try turning it off in-game

Raestloz
Was via the .ini, I'll try in-game.That will net you something, I can pretty much guarantee it. FYI in the .ini my Streamsmooth settings is "1" (enabled) while in-game I can say "screw you" to that I tried fiddling with the shadow settings (I want my shadow, that's pretty much my standard) but the ini says "screw you", so I turned it off completely. moarx
Edit: Apparently you have to go through the in-game menu and hit "Initialize with .ini settings" to get the .ini to work.
Raestloz
Really? I might try that then. Thanks for the tip
moarx
FPS seems to have improved, I was being retarded with my location (if you have Unique Landscapes, right outside Cheydinhal and looking down the road into the valley is pretty amazing looking) but after checking a few less-demanding locations it seems decent. Still hovering in the 20s-low 30s although indoors I'm getting max FPS (which is currently set to 60). Will check out some of the other tweaks/improvements to see if they help as well. Do you think PYFFI is worth using in my case?
Raestloz
PyFFi is never not worth it. If anything, it optimizes the mesh to have less triangles and less stress for your CPU (or it should be, might be GPU that do all that work). At worst, it does nothing except make you wait while it "optimizes" your meshes The effect is quite good in my game, although not that noticeable in normal gameplay, when I stopped for a minute and examine the fps, it does increase. Dracula420
have you modified the INI to use more memory? it might help with the larger texture packs. the default amount of memory oblivion has to process things is 25 mb if memory serves. i changed mine to use 250 and got an pretty serious performance boost on my laptop. i average 30 -37 FPS most of the time in or out of combat. i believe the INI line is "iPreloadSizeLimit=26214400"simply add another zero on the end and save it. Yeah, changed that to a considerably higher amount as advised by Albertine's thread.
