Turbotortoise
I once had something called "Nif Viewer" which allowed me to view *.nif files. Found something called "NifScope"; it is not "Nif Viewer". When I opened an *.nif file it was able to also show the texture around the mesh. It was simple and what I needed, something to just view the mesh how it would be seen in the game. Can anyone help me find it? I've been looking for 2 days. I don't know where I obtained it from originally, but it was an Oblivion related site. LHammonds
Yes, NifSkope is what you are looking for. It allows you to view as well as make some edits. Home page: http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope Download page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/nifskope/

I'm almost sure you're talking about Scene Immerse, but for the life of me I can't find anywhere to download it these days. It was originally a Morrowind thing, though, so maybe I'm wrong. All the links I can find for it are broken. There doesn't seem to be anything else out there that lets you just view a NIF without the options NifSkope has. Is there a reason you cannot use NifSkope? It can not only show you the textures, it'll let you change them if you want. If you opened a NIF with NifSkope and didn't see the texture overlaid on the mesh, it's cause the texture path was weird -- normally NifSkope automatically displays the texture, but it has to be able to find it. You can tell it where to look in the Render --> Settings menu if it's not finding your textures.
LHammonds
Once your texture paths are setup, you can press F2, then F3 so that the only thing that is displayed is the model itself (no tree or detail panel)
Turbotortoise
Thanx. Yes, the Nif viewer I was using was originally for morrwind. What I liked about it was that it was easy and with the limited time constraints to build my mod and the fact that my 7 yrold grandson could use it. It was all I needed. But it looks like I will have to take the extra time somewhere in my week to really mess with NifScope. Maybe instead of just coding a new mod I might make more graphics changes then I originally planned (I code to relax). Again, thank you. Still, if anyone finds Nif Viewer let me know. Handy for quickly making shure all the maps are correct in your nifs visually, and its a parallax map generator. It was created by Timeslip, and it should be bundled with the Oblivion Mod Manager and is its default nif program. In OBMM under Utilities. I could be wrong, but hope that helps.
martinthemage
I have NIF Viewer as well, and it IS bundled with OBMM. So in order to use it, you'll have to download Oblivion Mod Manager. In the obmm folder, run NifViewer.exe.
Turbotortoise
I know it's been awhile, but thanx. Have not had time to myself to continue my project (or even check the e-mail account this was linked to) for a while now. But thank you anyways.
