FO3Digital Download MODS,FOMM,FOSE

Recommended Posts

I have tried for a solid full day to get this game to work. FUnny thing is I had the retail version, and cannot find the game now so I tried the digital download. I have done evrything the forum said on installing etc. If I installe dout of Program files the coppy game would not even start. I tried it in Program files...patche dit. CTD..I give up. If anyone can offer a solution, or a tutorial to help, I would appreciate it. Otherwise this game goes in the toilet, which is sad because I had enjoyed it so much before. I even had the CS Light Saber mod and it worked on the older version, CTD if I try it on this one.

FOSE does not support:

Retail DVD and Steam build 1.0.0.12 (the original pre-patch version of Fallout) - if you have this version, update to 1.7.0.3

Russian DVD version of Fallout 3 (it uses Starforce encryption on Fallout3.exe)

Direct2Drive version of Fallout 3 (it encrypts the Fallout3.exe) - download the game from Steam if you would like to use a digital download service

Polish DVD version of Fallout 3 (it uses SafeDisc copy protection on Fallout3.exe)

If you used Direct2Drive for your download version you're pretty much borked when it comes to using FOSE.

What OS are you running? If XP then there is no problem with installing to the Program Files directory. Otherwise, this article suggests Fallout 3 can be moved once installed, though I haven't tried doing so myself.

I recommend uninstalling, then deleting manually anything left behind except your savegames. Then test at every step of the way reinstalling. Install, test. Patch (also, double check you are applying the right patch for your version, there are I believe special patches for Steam version and possibly the D2D version as well), test. FOMM+a mod or two, test.
