Oblivion Patches And Expansions

Hey, I am hoping to clear up a few things for myself and hopefully others too with this thread. There seems to be quite alot of patches in addition to expansion KON And SI. The question is. which of these do you install, and in what order. Here is a list of the available patches and Expansions. Please respond, answer, and discuss in this thread what of these are needed and in what order you install them off of original basic unchanged vanilla oblivion.

 

Official Expansions (Including KON Official Plugin/Expansion)

Official KON Plugin/Expansion

Official SI Expansion

Official Oblivion Patches

Official Oblivion Patch 1.2.0416

Official SI Patch 1.2.0416

Unofficial Patches

 

The Unofficial Oblivion Patch v3.2.0

The Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch v1.4.0

The Unofficial Official Mods Patch v15

To my knowledge, you can do it two ways.

Either like this:

1. Install Oblivion.

2. Install Official Oblivion Patch 1.2.0416

3. Install Shivering Isles + KOTN and the rest of the DLC.

4. Install Unofficial Patches

 

or like this:

 

1. Install Oblivion.

2. Install Shivering Isles + KOTN and the rest of the DLC.

3. Install Official SI Patch 1.2.0416.

4. Install Unofficial Patches.

 

KOTN and most of the DLC require Oblivion Patch 1.1.511 or higher. A few of the official plug-ins works with the unpatched version of Oblivion, but I can't remember which they are. However, Patch 1.1.511 is made obsolete by either of the two 1.2.0416 Patches.

If you install SI then install the SI patch 1.2.0416

 

otherwise install the Oblivion 1.2.0416 patch

 

but don't even think of trying to install both

 

Then install all unofficial patches that could possibly apply

 

 

but here it gets weird

 

Apply the patch from your source!! If you use D2D, use only their patch

 

And beware of English patches, make certain yours is the correct English :biggrin:

 

and even weirder

 

If you have GOTY simply install the second disk then you are already patched

 

Then there's the oddities of Eastern European variants . . .

This information seems genuine, Now everyone can know that if they follow the steps you said above that the bug fixes from the official Oblivion patche below will be addressed in adding the SI expansion to oblivion, and that GOTY edition does not need an official SI patch, and lastly that the unofficial patches cover all of the remaining bugs.
