Is ENBoost completely essential?

Is ENBoost completely essential when you're using an ENB?

If not, how do I turn it off completely and yet keep the enb?

and is doing so safe while playing?

I dont think you can 'turn off' enboost, its part of the whole ENB setup ..

 

And imho the best part.

 

You can turn off the majority of what ENB does while using just ENBoost ( turn off ENB graphics in ENBLocal.ini ), but the reverse I dont think is possible.

 

Someone with more experience may well say differently :), I only use ENB for ENBoost and do not use ENB Graphics or any presets

No, ENBoost is not essential. From my experience, it seems to give more stuttering and slight freezes in gameplay when enabled. This is apparently, in return for the CTDs it prevents. Either way I disabled it myself and voila, my FPS soared significantly and most of my stuttering went away instead.

 

Just go to enblocal.ini and set the ReduceSystemMemoryUsage to False. This will turn off the ENBoost feature. You might have to compensate for this by setting the DisableDriverMemoryManager to True.

Did you make sure you set EnableCompression=False? Because I heard setting it true causes those exact issues for some people.

Yes. that's an important part to change as well. Forgot to mention that. Here's my memory settings if interested. I don't know about Nvidia, but this is the best setting to use for AMD cards.

ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true

ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=false

DisablePreloadToVRAM=false

EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false

ReservedMemorySizeMb=256

VideoMemorySizeMb=1024 (use exact video card memory)

In my case ..

 

ExpandSystemMemoryX64=false

 

solved a slight stuttering problem I had at one time experimenting with it. If set to true, doing a 360 spin looking at riften market area would cause slight stutter, with it set to false the game is smooth.

 

All ENBoost settings though have to be studied carefully for your particular machine. There is no definitive set of settings which suits all machines. Once you have them right, its well worth the effort put into studying it.

3) If stuttering bother too much, edit enblocal.ini file vriables ExpandSystemMemoryX64, ReduceSystemMemoryUsage(especially this one), DisableDriverMemoryManager.

 

I have ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true,

and UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true
