Left hand as main hand

First of all please let me thank all the modders whose work I have enjoyed. I have searched through the forums & files here as well as planet elder scrolls, have not found anything that matches the description of what I'm looking for. I would like to modify the character to be left-handed. I would settle for this only working in first person view.

I do not know anything about modding myself, so I have no idea about the difficulty. Considering how many truly amazing mods there are for this game, it seems to me that it is possible.

Thank you in advance for anyone willing to start this project or point me in the right direction if it has already been done.

This may just show my complete lack of knowledge with regards to animation and modeling:

Take an animation defined in 3 dimensions, with z-axis pointing up, x-axis pointing fowards relative to the player and the y-axis as it has to be. Would the oblivion engine be able to handle a mirror of that animation along the x,z plane? Because that would make animations left handed. The same mirror would need to be applied to the body mesh (guessing), making all who use it a lefty, but that shouldn't be too big an issue. Any armors which aren't symmetric would also need to be flipped if the body does.

I'm guessing any implementation would depend heavily on how oblivion mixes the meshes for a character, which is likely to be hard coded and hence almost impossible to change. As an absolute last resort, using a 3rd party program to flip the screen along the middle would do the trick, would mean you need a mirror to read anything though.
