Bittercup Mods... Let's get a working "How to"

Ok, here's the deal... first time poster here, but long time lurker...

After searching through all of the mods available here, I dediced to first go about installing the Bittercup "mod sets"... for a few reasons...

1) I thought it would be cool as heck to have her as a follower and to be able to customize her

2) I could start off learning about mods for this game by installing mods that are specific to a single character instead of mods that are more "general"

3) Bittercup rocks.... period.

So... here's what I did...

FRESH install of Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition (1.7) (Windows 7 64bit)... I also loaded the game into C:/Games (a directory that I made) and DID NOT use the default path. After the fresh install I backed up the data file as recommended in the awesome guide that can be found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/articles/article.php?id=90 so that I could go back to it if something really got messed up. I also backed up my saved games prior to the new install (the reason that I went about doing a fresh install in the first place is because the directory that the game was originally installed under was the default directory of /C:/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda/Fallout3... and I wanted to move it from the programs file directory as recommended by the install guide.

Next thing that I did was run the game in its vanilla state and create a character named "test" then saved the game in order to get the FALLOUT.ini file created under Documents/My Games/Fallout 3

I then downloaded the following based on the install guide recommending them:

ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated from: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944

Fallout Mod Manager from: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640

After that, I downloaded the following mods:

Bittercup Companion v1.3 from: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1991

I added and tested this mod (used FOMM to activate it and launch the game)... this mod works great with no problems...

Now I want to see about changing the way that "Plain-Jane" Bittercup looks... so I download:

Bittercup Companion Restyled v1.2 from here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2195

Now, Vaungh states in the description that it is important to get ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated and use it... so I got it (see above) and used it. He also states to "

!!! Edit (or if it's not there add) bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 in your Fallout.ini under [General] !!!"

Ok, so I add that to my .ini file

After running ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated I checked the FALLOUT .ini file, and I see that bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 and bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 as they should be (based on what the install guide here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/articles/article.php?id=90 and the instructions for Bittercup restyled http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2195 say that they should be.

Alright, now I have Bittercup Companion 1.3 and Bittercup Companion Restyled v1.2... so I grab and install the bittercup_restyled-1_3 merged .esp file from here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1991 which "merged the .esp for bittercup restyled" according to the description (the readme states that it's to be used with the 1.3 follower and 1.2 restyled mods)... I replace the old .esp with this one.

I activate the mod and launch the game via FOMM...

Result: Bittercup's face is deathly white and her hair is very white..... Her body is not the same shade as her head and neck as in her body is way "tanner" than her head and neck...

Next step... I deactivate ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated (causing bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=0 and bInvalidateOlderFiles=0) and launch the game

Result: Bittercup's head and neck are way "tanner" than her body... her hair is very white.

At this point, I'm thinking that possibly the makeup plugin will fix this...so I get the Makeup Plugin I V0_2 from here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2195 and I go ahead and add it as the readme says I should add it...

Results:

With ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated ACTIVATED: yes, she has makeup, but her face and neck and hair are still deathly white compared to her body

With ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated DEACTIVATED: she has makeup, but now her body is way whiter than her head.

GOALS...

I would like to get this issue fixed so that I can get Bittercup (and help with creating a comprehensive guide for others to get Bittercup) to look as follows:

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2195

NO MAKEUP: get her to look like the "Bittercup Master Mod" images that were posted by Vaungh on 13:15, 29 December 2008 (the ones with her posing in the grey tanktop with her arms "up") .... notice how her head and neck are the same color and that her hair is not "white as snow" but has a blonde tone to it

WITH MAKEUP: get her to look like the "Bittercup Plugin I Version" images posted by Vaungh on 13:17, 29 December 2008... again, the ones with her posing in a grey tanktop with her arms up... not the laying down images... again... notice how her head and neck are the same color and that her hair is not "white as snow" but has a blonde tone to it

IF POSSIBLE: The image posted by FalloutGod 01:14, 27 December 2008... note the head, neck, and body match AND/OR the one posted by jjules on 01:12, 27 December 2008... again, head neck and body match... and the clothes on that one are amazing...

On a final note, I'm not interested in the nude mods... just interested in getting Bittercup to look more unique (preferably with a maching head, neck, and body) while following me around and killing whatever is still alive in the wasteland.

Thank you all in advance.

Sorry I couldn't read all of that, but it sounds like you have a head/body color mismatch.

Depending on what your problem is,

1 - Make the esp a master with your utility of choice

or

2 - Open fallout.ini and set bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles to 1

Doesn't hurt to do both.

Funny, I had the same issues with the same files. My fix? Do without the "Restyled" mod.

I've never gotten the skin tones to match when the head mesh for the custom race is not the default vanilla path. The head is always fishbelly white no matter what you do.
