Won't start

Hey. So my game was working fine, but for whatever reason stopped. I try to open it with obse v18 and it looks like it's going to start (I get the opening windows go up, black screen, sometimes a few sec of a loading screen) and then it crashes. I tryed all I could think of. Updates, uninstaling/reinstaling, turning on/off mods, etc. What should I do now?

I think it is because of the version of the game. Use patch 1.2.0416. If it is successfully updated the game should work.

If you have already reinstalled and it still doesn't work. The uninstall with the game doesn't remove everything. It actually leaves quite a bit behind to mess you up later. If you follow my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure it may revive your game.

How much mods are you using? It can happen to crash at start if you have 256+ mods (note that limit is 255). Check that...

Regenerate the Oblivion.ini - http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/troubleshooting/regenoblivionini <-- Try this as well. Sometimes this file just gets tweaked randomly, it seems.

Ok. So I tryed turning of all mods again n this time it worked. It must be the mods then. I don't think I was using over 255, but I did get a hand full to work. Thanks for all the suggestions. Lets just see if it'll keep working.
