nyde21
Hello brothers. What I'm about to ask for many of you despise. What I'm about to ask is what you guys call "being spoon fed". Please understand that I work 2 jobs, go to school and have to take care of 2 children. My time is extremely limited. I really do not have the time to go searching through this site for mods, nor do I have the time to teach myself on how to install them "correctly". Been playing Fallout 3 "vanilla" for so long and its boring now. LOL I really want to spice things up in my new playthrough. Can someone please tell me the VERY top 5 mods I need in order to play Fallout 3 in a new and better way? What are the mods? And what else do I need to install in order to install these mods? Also...."how" do I "correctly" install these mods? Any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I downloaded Fallout 3 from steam. Not sure if anyone needs to know this. Also, I'm sick and tired of starting the game in the usual way. Is there a mod that lets me start the game from a new spot? Or changes the story around? Tired of doing the same main quest. jet4571
Quick answer, hit the "Files" button at the top of the page and choose "Top Files" to get to this page: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/top/ At the top of that page is 5 choices for Most endorsed. There's the answer for the top 5+ mods. Now you will have to do some looking of your own and see what interests you and what does not since that is only a question you can answer. As for installing mods, First "READ DESCRIPTIONS"(imagine that as booming deep voice of some unknown Godlike being and not shouting). Reading the descriptions is very important because it tells you if the mod will conflict with another and often have special install instructions. Next is check the comments for additional helpful info. Last download and use Fallout Mod Manager(FOMM) http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/36901/ Yes that's posted in New Vegas but it works with FO3. First thing to do with that is open "Tools" and make sure "Archive Invalidation" is checked. Uncheck and check it is what I do when first installing. After that you will need someone else explain how to use the mod install feature since I install manually and just use FOMM for load order, archive invalidation, and launching Fallout Script Extender(FOSE), so go ahead and ask in the FOMM comment section about the install feature. *editShameless plug and is a top 5 file for me: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20543/ Yep Like I said shameless plug since I just uploaded it! Advice, since you have played the vanilla game to boredom you have a good idea on what you didn't like such as perks for example. If you didn't like the perks do a search for perks and see what's available. Most endorsed generally are the best quality so stick with those at first. Once you get things going the way you like just do some general looking about because there are many hidden gems that never had a chance to get allot of endorsements and wouldn't make a recommendation list because of that even if those hidden gems are better than some high endorsed mods. As in the top 100 isn't all the very best but often the oldest. Edited August 24, 2014 by jet4571
nyde21
Thank you so much for helping me out, brother. What I want is to make FO3 more exciting. More aggressive. More action packed. I think I'll be more interested in choosing mods that do a lot, big package mods.

nyde21
Try #4, #40, and #105 Maybe #146, #145, and #175 from the top endorsed of all time. Which one is #4 and #40 to you? What are they called? I got something else that I don't think you would've meant to recommend. Perhaps I'm looking in a the wrong category? jet4571
Click the top endorsed of all time choice(non adult) list choice at the top of the page. Sorry forgot there's one that has both adult only and non adult mixed above it.

nyde21
Is there a mod that enables me to look down the middle of all guns? Similar to what New Vegas does. I downloaded FWE (not sure if that's the name). Does that allow down the middle "iron sights" shooting?

Same name and same author. Answer to the second question: No, see first answer.
