Random, erratic crashes?

Recently Ive been experiencing lots of random, erratic crashes occurring for what seems to be no reason. They can happen anywhere at any time and dont seem to be associated with any location, item, NPC, etc. They havent shown up in any specific pattern, as I can reload a save after crashing, do the exact same thing, and not get a crash the second time. Does installing a lot of mods usually cause this kind of problem? Or could it be caused by some other issue (like a couple incompatible mods, corrupt save, etc.)? Help with rooting out the problem would be appreciated, as CTD every hour or so is rather annoying. Btw, my save file is about 5.2 MB and I've done quite a bit of mod installing/uninstalling on it, if that helps.

 

Another side note, I have weOCPS to prevent crashes and its been acting rather weird and not exactly helpful. It plays a sound whenever it changes data in memory to prevent a crash, and usually the "crash prevented" sound is followed immediately by a CTD. Im not sure how helpful this tool is for preventing crashes and how many crashes it has even caused by messing up values in memory. I also have the log files if that helps at all.

 

EDIT: Another thing, I have the latest versions of OOO and MMM installed (MMM for OOO compatibility version of course), but I dont have FCOM (the installation process makes me want to cry, especially the part about starting with a clean install of oblivion). I have used BOSS to sort the files I have. Theres no problem with that right? :P

Using BOSS is good, but it does not recognize all plugins. Have you taken care of any "unknowns"?

I do not like or recommend using WeOCPS unless it is definitely helping. It has caused crashes for me, so I think you should drop it. It definitely does not work for all setups. Plus, it "hides" crashes that you may otherwise be able to fix.

Stabilization Mods - http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/stabilization/stabilizationmods <-- If you installed WeOCPS to stop the crash on exit, there is a better, simpler mod that I basically guarantee to get the job done.

I used BOSS and it took care of the vast majority of the plugins I had installed. The other ones I manually ordered based on some guides I read. However, I decided to simply reinstall the game with FCOM for the sake of balance. I also felt that my mods listing was in need of some spring cleaning. I have it set up now with fewer mods than before, all handled by BOSS. Since I followed the installation instructions and checked my active plugins several times, Im going to assume that its set up right. Ive decided to drop weOCPS and see how things go. Im gonna do some testing now and let you guys know how it goes.

If you notice any problems or any compatibility patches that Im missing, feel free to let me know :). Btw, I did experience an odd crash when I fast traveled to Chorrol earlier. The game kinda just quit without the usual "Oblivion has encountered a problem" message.

Deadly Reflex has to be on the very bottom. Even beneath the Bashed Patch.

Alright, Im replacing Crowded Roads Advanced with Crowded Roads Revisited (I was starting to get sick of my companions picking fights with those level 100 static NPCs anyways). And, I should merge -all- of my mergeable mods into the bashed patch?

 

And...yeah whats wrong with Crowded Cities?

Yes, you should merge mergeable mods. Follow the instructions on the page I linked. I am not about to tell you anything differently from what is written there. The issue with Crowded Cities is that you already have Modem's City Life installed. Those two mods will kill your processor. The bigger problem is that BC only offers support for Modem's mod, and the Crowded Cities mods will not work. Did you install the BC version of modem's mod, by the way? If you installed BC after installing modem's mod, the OMOD installer should have taken care of that.
