Random, erratic crashes?

Recommended Posts

Alright, Ill go ahead and edit in my load order. Btw, Ive been using Streamline 3.1 beta unpatched for the last month or so *facepalm*. And...is the black screen fix needed for the newer 200 series GeForce cards?

It is just an nVidia and HDR thing. I have not heard of an update indicating that the problem has been resolved with newer cards. Have you tried the fix? You should patch Streamline.

Just patched Streamline, hopefully this improves stability and such.

Which black screen fix should I use? The one built into Wrye Bash?

That would be preferable, since it saves a plugin slot. If that does not suffice, do not just turn it off, just add one of the other fixes. They can all be used together. The Bash tweak only replicates the regular fix, I believe, not the toggle or sneak fix.

Hmmm...it seems that only some scripted spells sometimes get counted as assault. If it turns out to not be from FCOM, I would suspect Deadly Reflex, as its the only other mod that is likely to have lots of script-related changes. It also has scripted attacks that count as crimes, so idk if its related to that. I cant remember off the top of my head if I had DR installed when the script spell still worked...

Yeah I actually patched this one, unlike Streamline :P. Im just thinking maybe the edits to make scripted attacks hostile carried over to scripted spells as well (ofc I dont know how this all works :P).

Btw, I see a lot about using BAIN to install mods in your guides. But, I never really understood how to set up BAIN. The readme says to store packages in the "Oblivion Mods\Bash Installers" directory. The problem is, Im not sure where to put that directory (under oblivion install directory? under "mopy"?).

EDIT: Nvm I tried using "Open" and Bash kindly told me where my Oblivion Mods folder wasnt found :P

Bash actually recommends against putting the mods directory in the same directory with oblivion. They don't even have to be on the same hard drive. You will have to copy mopy\bash_default.ini into mopy\bash.ini and then edit mopy\bash.ini to tell it where you have placed your Oblivion Mods directory.

And...is the black screen fix needed . . .

its included in the Unofficial Oblivion Patch - you need this anyways

That explains why Bash only found 4 cells that needed fixing :)

Hmm forgot to disable SL, save, then re-enable after patching it up. Noticed that when I walked into an area and for some reason my fps was really bad; SL wasnt working *facepalm*

I do not recommend mixing installation methods, not when you do not have a good grasp of mod structure. If you do go ahead with that, it is least complicated if you make sure that the files you install with each utility do not overlap. OBMM's conflict detection stinks, and it does not correct file placement... Switch completely to BAIN if you want... Read the Preparing for Mods page where I explain the advantages or features of the main mod installation methods.
