Vindekarr
Hi all. Ive been toying lately with OOO, Im kinda new to modded oblivion having bought the game years after its release and having now only discovered the community modding 2 years ago. for a while Ive been running my main build with OOO 1.3.1, the second last OOO, but I tried moving up to OOO 1.3.2, a heavily updated version and the last ever OOO on my test machine, which has the latest patch and SI but no mods, and the moment I updated from 1.3.1 to 1.3.2, BOOM! OOO killed that install, the game had run fine until then, but when I tried it with .32 ALL my non quest items were gone, as was my character's hair and ears, and my spells, though this didnt effect NPCs in any way-they were all fully equiped and had hair and ears. but whats really strange is what it did to the textures, not only was my character's skin texture odd looking, but literaly every square milimetre of tamriel was textureless, unline other games with missing texture that I've seen, like far cry 2, which lost all its texture in a recent patch and replaced them with rainbow cubes, oblivion with this bug instead had what looked like a medium to high resolution coloured tamrial map, it was tiled like an early thumbnailed desktop, each tile about a metre square(3 feet by 3 feet) and this continued over every ladscape texture save water. characters, buildings and all objects and creatures werent effected, only the landscapes. What I would like help with is knowing what went wrong, and how if at all possibly, i can avoid doing this again. I got the file for this from www.filefront.com, which is normaly a safe site that delivers older oblivion mods reliably-Ive only ever had one bad esp from there before this and that was well before this happened. lastly, I used the inbuilt exe to auto install this to a folder in my C drive-normaly exe mods have no trouble with this, if anything it makes them install faster, so Im really stumped. regards, one very confused nerd. :geek:
Tomlong54210
Are you using Vista or Win7. In that case, the EXE installer is not very reliable. You should use OOO 1.33 which is the latest stable release, anyway. I would like to see a picture of your problem. I am not getting a good visual. It could be that your shaders are messed up, and that has nothing to do with OOO. You should at least try replacing your shaders. Official (1.2.0416) Shaders - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20348 Is there anything else I should know about your setup? Is your game patched to the latest version, and are you running other mods?
Vindekarr
ok, firstly the system: its a 2 year old quadcore games machine, can normaly handle crysis without issues, running windows vista x64, has a radeon hd 4870 GPU with fairly modern drivers, latest SPs and over those 2 years I havent had a single crash or needed to replace any hardware, firmware or software. my copy of oblivion had only shivering isles and the latest patch-but the test character had seen perhaps 250 mods come and go, and had some custom face textures, other than that it was unmodded. I have had quite a few exe problems with vista-most notably farcry 2 didnt install properly the first time I ran it, and and then subsequently became unplayabl and broken due to a ubisoft patch that for want of a better term screwed the textures up something aweful, likewise for borderlands, though it still runs... usualy, and call of duty 4, but other than those 3 FPS, I havent had a big vista moment for over a year, so Im not sure whats up, I did get a bunch of updates recently, and I had UAC on while I installed this, but otherwise Im pretty much unable to think of why this happened secondly I wasnt ever able to capture a screenshot of this-Im going to see however if I can replicate the results on another machine with the same specs, will post again with the results of that. Tomlong54210
Do you have Oblivion installed outside of the default folder, Program Files (x86)? If not, install it to another folder, such as C:\Games\Oblivion. Are you using OBMM? Do you have BSA redirection set (Utilities > Archive invalidation.)
