SpellAndShield
and was going to post it to my video but I don't know how to split it up (youtube has an 11 minute limit) into chunks that I can upload to my youtube channel...if anyone knows how and can show me in a clear and easy way I would be very appreciative. I have been looking online now for hours and am going bloody crazy because I have found nothing that answers my specific question. Example. I have a 18 minute video that I want to split in two 9 minute chunks...what do I do? As soon as I figure it out I will have a nice winterforge tutorial for the people here. LHammonds
I think Windows Movie Maker will allow you to set markers to cut the film down to size. Do that and save it as part 1, then open the original again, make the 2nd set of markers and save that as part 2. Other tools you can use: VirtualDub (FREE)Format Factory (FREE) - Convert file types to just about anything and any size you need.CamStudio (FREE) - Tutorial creation tool...can do PiP and probably edit video too (only recently found it) I tried a program called AVS Video Converter and ended up buying it ($60 for lifetime free upgrades and access to everything they make). However, that single license allowed me to have any software that company made...which is a LOT of quality products including AVS Video Editor...which would do exactly what you want as well as export to YouTube (or YouTube HD) format using presets. SaturnC
I think Windows Movie Maker will allow you to set markers to cut the film down to size. Do that and save it as part 1, then open the original again, make the 2nd set of markers and save that as part 2.Exactly, this is what I'm going to show, you said it a lot easier than I'm showing it! ;) I have windows xp and I'm using version 5.1 for the movie maker. What I do is just film what I want to film and with my FRAPS settings, the files themselves get split automatically at 3.90 gigs. You can put 3 of them together for a total of 11.7 gigs and that brings your run time up around 10 minutes. Last I know the time allowed was 10 minutes, not 11 but I could be wrong. So, when you have your 3.90gig segments, then put them together in movie maker to the size you need. To split an existing video: You don't want storyboard:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_1.jpg You want Timeline:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_2.jpg With Fraps, your video is stored in it's own folder, find that and slide the existing clip onto the collections:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_5.jpg Now slide it down from the collection to the timeline:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_7.jpg
SaturnC
Just mark where you want the split and you'll see the split button in the lower right hand corner of the viewer-we're using 46.33:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_9.jpg Make the split:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_21.jpg Now you have 2 segments:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_22.jpg Delete the last segment:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_24.jpg Save the first segment:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_25.jpg Now, once the first segment is saved, delete it, and bring down the original video from the collections and repeat the process using 46.33 for your marker (or whatever you are using) and this time after you split them, delete the first segment and save the last one. This will give you 2 separate movies. But if I were you, I would set up my Fraps at 30 fps, I think that's what splits them at 3.90 gigs, so you don't get large files to work with and you'll avoid having to split them for YouTube. I hope this helps!
SaturnC
Just a couple extras while I'm on the subject, this is what I use for my YouTube setting, I don't have high def but this works nicely:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_17.jpg You'll get a 720x480 res and that works for YouTube. And don't forget the video transistions! If you put two spliced videos together that aren't in sequence, the transitions can help it out just go to Tools:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_12.jpg Pick out a transition and slide it down to the split you want to use and you'll get a little box:http://www.ladymoiraine.com/modules/gallery_HoT/albums/album186/Split_14.jpg And now if you have to fragmented segments they'll flow a little smoother.
