Any interest in a tactical gear mod?

Hi guys,

I've been thinking lately that I would like a mod that is primarily tactical gear (mostly plate carriers/vests, but with helmets, Oakley M-frame sunglasses, holsters, backpacks, etc. as well) that can be equipped as a single part of armor then mixed around in different combinations. I am aware that these exist in other mods, however most of these existing mods have the gear pieced together in an outfit that you can't really change around.

However the ones that do have gear that is able to be equipped on their own have ridiculous camouflage textures that don't go well with the vanilla clothing (jumpsuits, mercenary outfits, etc). I was thinking I could cut up some of the existing mods, re-texture them with solid colors (tan, olive drab, gray, black), remove faction-specific patches and then re-upload it as a mod/modders' resource that people can use on their own.

I also noted a lack of variety in the type of helmets that tend to be used in mods throughout the nexus. One style of helmet I would like to use is the MICH helmet, which pretty much just looks like a regular combat helmet but tends to not have camouflage covers and is used primarily by special forces. I fooled around in 3ds max a bit and put together this helmet shell, along with the chinstrap and headgear from some other mods. Let me know what you think.

I'm probably gonna add some velcro patches on the sides and front so people can decorate it how they like, and maybe a nvg mount or goggles on the front to give it a little more detail.

I'm more of a fan of the "modern mercenary" look than I am of "army guy" look so that's why I'm kind of against camo textures.

EDIT: I might make an entirely new radio headset because the one that's out there right now is a little wonky and doesn't really fit the helmet's style.

EDIT2: Or maybe have the headset be its own independent piece of headwear that can be worn on its own?

True, I agree. I might still however upload the helmet as modders resource. The nexus' helmet game is lacking.

EDIT: I also think most of what's out there is way over the top and a little too flamboyant for my taste. It differs a lot from what I would consider my "style."

Yeah that's exactly what I'm thinking, I want to make sure that the items look like something that wouldn't be out of place lying around in military or mercenary outposts around the Mojave/Capital wastelands. But my expertise leans heavily towards modeling, not so much texturing so if someone that's talented enough with photoshop that could make some Kevlar textures look scratched and worn feel free to reach out to me.

I feel like the bulk of "tactical" armor mods on the nexus focus more on making you look like a super spy/Kim Possible (there are many exceptions obviously). I want to finish this by giving players a look where they will end up looking like mix between a modern Blackwater contractor and Mad Max.

Still a WIP, but I've got the bulk of the textures down. The helmet and headset are different objects that can be equipped separately, the headset looking especially good with the roving trader hat as well. Still working on the microphone on the headset. As you can see I'm trying to make it work with vanilla outfits, let me know what you all think.
