Distant LOD models not disappearing

Having finally gotten around to putting FO3:GOTY on my rig, I've noticed some glitches that remind me a lot of Oblivion (yay for shared platforms). One of the most intrusive of these glitches is that Distant LOD models don't seem to disappear properly when I get close. I first noticed this when reaching Rivet City, and soon found it to affect Megaton, the fragged freeway, and several chunks of terrain.

 

It was really annoying when approaching an Enclave outpost last night- a massive 'cliff' made flanking to my right rather awkward. I could walk thru it, but not see thru it.

 

Are there any known fixes or .ini tweaks for this issue? Thanks for the help!

It's my understanding that a Multibound is a set of items that LOD together. Like the ship, you wouldn't want to see the bow an not see the rails on it because of LOD. So stuff like this is Multibound so that it draws the whole thing reguardless of where you are standing in relation to it. Show us a picture of what you are talking about.

Yar, if I can get it to happen again, I'll grab a screen. I fiddled with my settings a bit, and it seems to have fixed things for the time being.

 

Basically, the low-detailed, ultra-basic distant model that one can see from afar doesn't disappear when I get closer to the city (or whatever model is being affected). The LOD is SUPPOSED to fade out and give way to the more-detailed static meshes, but sometimes doesn't. You can walk right thru it, but it can make it tricky to spot some doors when walking around in third person.

Ah yes, I have this problem frequently, usually happens after playing for an extended period of time, leading me to believe it has something to do with the game not removing LOD meshes from the memory properly. If you did in fact get it to stop let me know how.

What mods do you run? Any mod that tweak vanilla Wasteland and is a .esp not .esm mod can make problems if it change landscape parts.

If you search on the topic "changing vanilla wasteland" mantra you will see this is not a trivial thing to success with.

 

I spent some time with LOD for new "world spaces" and generally this can be a hard nut for modders to get right when releasing a new mod and for sure if it is within vanilla Wasteland.

 

RL suck most of my time so I can't spend that much time to help you but in your case to nail down the mod in a logical way (yeah, I think you have a lot running) that stuck LOD you need to run game in more "vanilla" mode (AKA disable mod after mod) until you see the LOD problem vanish.
