Unable to Aim / Stuck in 3rd Person Mode

Recommended Posts

I was just messing around in Moira's shop, selling things and turning in a quest. I switch to third person to check out some new armor I bought and when I tried to get out of it, my key wasn't working anymore. I'm only able to move forward, backward, left and right. I can't aim, I can only rotate the camera around my character. I saved and restarted the game to see if that would change it, and now my save is stuck like that as well. I have been playing for about 5 hours today and really don't feel like doing everything again, is there any way to fix this problem without loading my Vault 101 door save?

Sounds just like the vanity mode camera. Depends on what you are using that would even allow a vanity mode camera. I know in vanilla the scroll wheel is pressed in which you can then manually vanity mode (which is hard to do) could be yer scroll wheel is messed up, but me, anytime I have a problem I first duplicate it in a new game start or previous save game.

*sigh* you could get a vanity mode camera mod, activate it in-game, then deactivate it in the hope it will return to the default. I use the Groovatron mod to do utility stuff like this, it's actually become a nice tool as well as being super funny. You'd need FOSE, Groovatron, Umpa animations, to use it I think...

I just ran into the same problem.

I don't know what OS you were running fallout in or if it matters, but maybe if your scroll wheel was messed up like mine seems to be with some programs, and if you are using windows 7 try changing your center mouse button from "Flip" to "middle-click", and try disabling vertical scroll too.

This worked for me.

This is the only place I could find any info on this problem after about an hour of trial and error I got it to work this way and I haven't had trouble since.

I hope this helps someone else in the future.
