I need help with the FO3 1.7 Patch

Recommended Posts

I have downloaded the 1.7 patch. It runs I watch the load bar get to 99%. Then FO3 Starts. I open the game to the last save, then quit the game. I see the run message box close (brief flash) as FO3 closes at 100%.

I am running Win7, on a ASUS (G72gx) with more than enough power.

I start the game again and go to display settings to see in the bottom left hand corner its still the orgininal version.

I run the process again and when FO3 fires up i start the task manager to seet the Install run diolog box is at 100% but "Not Responding."

I am at a loss. I have gone through several windows updates etc... etc... I am a novice at the computer so any step-by-step instructions or screen-shots would be appreciated.

let's start at the beginning

where did you buy Fallout3, and is it the GOTY version.

where did you get the patch.

I am having the same issue as the OP. I have the original unpatched game. I recently I uninstalled it and reinstalled when I went from using FWE to FOOK2.

Now when I go to patch it gets to 100%, launches the game and the RTPatcher freezes. When I exit the game the patcher closes, but my fallout.exe is still the old version.

I got the patch from bethesda.

Anyone have any thoughts? Is it some remnant of the original install stuck in the registry?

Thanks.

Ok so I fixed my problem. I uninstalled and then ran CCleaner to clear up any old registry entries. Installed and patched again and it took fine. Try that.

Fonger, I thought I did answer the question. I have the original version (dvd) of the game (non goty). I got my patch from bethesda's site.

actually the confusion arose because you stated that you have the original unpatched game

that could be D2D or Disk - USA or Disk - European or Bit Torrent (illegal) or any number of other unspecified alternatives

and each and every one of these possibilities requires a different source of patch

Anyways, glad its working for you now

(BTW out of left field, have you looked into Robco Certified mod yet?)

Yeah, the original store bought DVD. I guess I forget those other forms because they are terrible. Don;t get me wrong, steam is fantastic, but not for things I want to mod or get mods for.

Yeah, this last character I installed Robco Certified. Works well, but I need to scrounge up more fission batteries.
